  1. Typical flow of the day 8:45- New arrival time Spanish/ STEM Math Specials PE three days a week. Music and Art once a week 11:05-11:35 Lunch Science Language arts and writing Recess Independent reading Maker Space/ Enrichment 2:45- New dismissal time

  2. Curriculum Reading curriculum is from Houghton Mifflin Journeys third grade and is aligned to Florida state standards. Writing is not a separate subject but included in all the subjects. Students will use a variety of writing techniques to explore and analyze text. The county math curriculum for gifted classes is Every Day Math. This is based on a spiral timeline with an emphasize on projects for high interest. There will be Science experiments and vocabulary building each week in student journals. There will also be research projects utilizing available technology and student created Power Point presentations.

  3. Spanish Direct instruction Basic skills workbooks Rockalingua songs and games Spanish videos with comprehension work Games in Spanish to build fluency Buddy partnering with older grades reading Spanish books Web-based Spanish lessons using Duolingo, Digital Dialect, Rockalingua, Raz-kids and Myon in Spanish Partner work to practice speaking and listening skills Cultural Holidays

Communication Minimum one conference per year Student-led conference at the end of the year Each teacher will let you know the Best form of communication from parent to teacher (prefer email, phone, agenda, etc.) Return call/email within 48 hours (weekday hours) Partnership with parents and frequent communication are encouraged at Ridgecrest!

Classroom Behavior Plan Our main emphasis regarding discipline is positive reinforcement. 4-3-2-1 behavior rubric will be used. every child will begin everyday on a 4. 4 s and 3 s mean the child had a good day. At the end of each school day, each child s behavior grade will be recorded in the agenda.

  9. Homework Expectations (this may vary per class.) Each Friday the work for the week will be sent home and due the following Friday. Work may be turned in earlier if that works better for the family schedule. There will be 4 projects to work on at home this year. One project for each grading period.
