Law and Public Service The Law and Public Service Career Cluster focuses on planning, managing, and providing legal services, public safety, protective services, and homeland security, including professional and technical support services. Students will examine the roles and responsibilities of police, courts, corrections, private security, and fire and emergency services. (UPDATE) Fire Science Statewide Program of Study (UPDATE) The Fire Science Program of Study provides the opportunity for students seeking careers in the fire service to acquire standard firefighting, fire prevention , and fire protection knowledge and skills. Students will gain broad knowledge and skills necessary to work effectively in the fire service as firefighters, fire prevention technicians, and fire inspectors, as well as other related occupations. Legal Studies Legal Studies Statewide Program of Study The Legal Studies program of study introduces CTE learners to the occupations and educational opportunities related to representing clients in criminal and civil litigation and other legal proceedings, as well as assisting lawyers and preparing legal documents. This program of study explores possible specializations in a single area of law. This program of study will also explore the opportunities related to developing comprehensive plans and programs for use of land and physical facilities of jurisdictions, such as towns, cities, counties, and metropolitan areas. Students will learn how to appropriately and legally respond to breaches in the law according to statutory rules and regulations as well as investigate how and why the breaches occurred.
