In the next 30 minutes Outline the important curriculum changes relating to 6/12 medicine rotation Who to talk to Educational opportunities Specific information for ACCS IM trainees
Curriculum changes Training requirements 1) Mandatory SDEC/ AECU 20 days per 6 month block 2) Mandatory on call commitment 4 shifts per month (nights/ days not specified) Evidence of >100 patients seen in 6 month block LOGBOOK 3) day per week non-clinical time To support acquisition of experience in the 3 non-clinical curriculum competencies & CV-building Activities should be agreed with your CS in your first meeting LOGBOOK of activities kept
Non-clinical time activities 3 generic capabilities Support, supervise & educate Formal delivery of education simulation training, medical students Preparation of local teaching presentations, e.g. grand rounds/ departmental teaching Participate in research & managing data appropriately GCP training Working within departmental research teams Participate in & promote activity to improve the quality & safety of the patient Bronze/ silver QI Completion of QIPs Attendance at clinical governance/ audit/ M&M meetings Portfolio administration Time for WPBAs Ultrasound training Leadership & management experience
Curriculum changes - Supervision Educational supervisors within Acute Medicine Only applicable to ACCS IM trainees (Wrexham & GUH) Oversee ACCS IM years 1 & 2 At ACCS IM CT3 another ES will be allocated from the IMT ES pool & oversee the ACCS IM CT3 & CT4 years (equating to IMT2 &3) Governance for training of ACCS IM CT3/4 years lies under the IMT umbrella Named clinical supervisors All ACCS trainees allocated CS during medicine block Should work directly with trainee

Info for ACCS IM trainees Exams & educational opportunities MRCP required for completion of stage 1 IM training (by end of ACCS IM CT4) ACCS IM trainees should receive invites to local IM training events, AS WELL AS ACCS events Dedicated ACCS IM training sessions 2/12ly Senior-led education Specific to Acute Medicine Encourage cohesion between trainees in the same training programme Get to know SpR & Consultants in Acute Medicine Wales AIM SpR training week (annually, usually June)
