CWVYS Induction Programme: A Pathway to Youth Work Excellence
The CWVYS Induction Programme is a comprehensive initiative developed in partnership with Adult Learning Wales to equip volunteers, staff, and trustees in the field of youth work with essential skills, knowledge, and confidence. This programme, consisting of 9 units available in English and Welsh, covers various aspects such as organization induction, roles and responsibilities in youth work settings, equality and diversity, and safeguarding. With a focus on accreditation and tailored delivery methods, this programme serves as a vital stepping stone for individuals looking to excel in the youth work domain.

The CWVYS Induction Programme: A stepping stone to youth work Delivered in partnership with Adult Learning Wales
Story so far Funded by Welsh Government in 2012 A stepping Stone to youth work was developed by CWVYS to provide volunteers staff and trustees with the skills, knowledge and confidence to support youth work. It is a series of accredited units. In 2016 they were reviewed. Available to CWVYS members either via the ALW partnership or through your own funding streams.
The units 9 units Available in English and Welsh Workbooks to support the collection of evidence for assessment Can be delivered 1:1, small groups, young leaders programme One unit is from the Level 2 award in Youth Work Practice Tutor guidance plans available

Organisation Induction Level 2 Credit Value 1 Learning outcomes Assessment Criteria 1. Know the organisation's purpose. Describe the organisation's: a) mission statement; b) vision statement; c) aims and objectives 2. Understand the roles and responsibilities of the organisation's staff team. Describe the duties and responsibilities of: a) three members of staff; b) her/his role in the organisation. 3. Understand the organisational structure. Describe the hierarchy of the organisation. 4. Know the organisation's policies and procedures. Describe three policies that affect her/him within the organisation.
Roles, Responsibilities and Rights within a Voluntary Youth Work Setting Level 2 Credit Value 1 Learning outcomes Assessment Criteria 1. Understand the role of the youth worker. Describe the role of a youth worker. Describe his/her roles within an organisation. Describe his/her motivation for working in a youth work setting. 2. Understand an individual s roles thin in an organisation. 3. Understand the roles and responsibilities of different types of volunteers. Describe different types of volunteers and their roles. Outline her/his rights within an organisation. Compare the organisation's responsibilities to paid staff and volunteers 4. Know the rights and responsibilities of volunteers and paid staff.
Principles, Philosophy and Practice of Youth Work Level 2 Credit Value 1 Learning outcomes Assessment Criteria 1. Know how the principle and purpose of youth work apply to an organisation. Describe how the principle and purpose of youth work apply to an organisation. Describe the different approaches to youth work within an organisation. Compare youth work approaches within an organisation. Outline the expected outcomes for young people being involved in youth work. Outline expected outcomes for the organisations due to being involved in youth work. Describe how she/he can contribute towards achieving the required outcomes for (a) young people and (b) the organisation. 2. Understand the different approaches to youth work within an organisation. 3. Know the expected outcomes for young people and organisations due to being involved in youth work.
Equality and Diversity Level 1 Credit Value 1 Learning outcomes Assessment Criteria Define the term equality. Identify cases of inequality in a range of situations. Outline how inequality affected one of the situations in 1.2. Identify organisations that work on equality issues in Wales and the UK. Define the term diversity. Outline how diversity can benefit society. Define stereotyping. Identify how stereotyping can affect individuals. Give examples if how to challenge stereotyping. 1. Understand aspects of equality. 2. Understand aspects of diversity. 3. Understand stereotyping.
Developing an Organisations Local Capacity to meet Young People s Needs Level 2 Credit Value 1 Learning outcomes Assessment Criteria Describe the local community in relation to economic, geographical and cultural factors. Outline how the local community can impact on young people. Describe how her/his organisation can support young people in the local community. 1. Understand the impact that the local community has on young people.
Promoting Young Peoples Participation Level 2 Credit Value 1 Learning outcomes Assessment Criteria Describe the purpose of the United Nations Convention on the RIGHTS OF THE Child (UNCRC) Define young people s participation. Describe how young people are encouraged to express their views and make decisions within an organisation. Outline the National Children and Young People's Participation Standards for Wales Describe how the National Participation Standards are implemented in practice Describe the importance of empowerment, participation and equality when working with young people Describe the importance of promoting young people's participation Give examples oh how to promote participation. 1. Know how an organisation encourages the participation of young people 2. Understand the key principles of empowerment, participation and equality when working with young people.
Activity Planning in a Youth Work Setting Level 2 Credit Value 1 Learning outcomes Assessment Criteria Describe the main stages of programme planning. Plan an activity that promote the principles of youth work. Plan ways of assessing a youth work activity. Deliver an activity for young people. 1. Understand how to plan programmes with young people 2. Be able to deliver an activity for young people. Assess and activity of young people to include: (a) feedback from young people and (b) personal reflection 3. Be able to assess an activity of young people
Youth Work Placement Level 2 Credit Value 1 Learning outcomes Assessment Criteria Engage with individuals and groups in different activities within a youth work organisation. Assess her/his contribution to youth work activities Describe areas of development. 1. Be able to undertake a placement within a youth work organisation
Safeguarding in a Youth Work Setting Level 2 Credit Value 3 delivery by ALW Learning outcomes 1. Know about the importance of safeguarding policies and procedures, in providing a safe environment for young people. 2. Be able to assess risk in a youth work setting. 3. Know about roles and responsibilities in relation to keeling young people, vulnerable adults, self and colleagues safe in a youth work setting 4. Understand how to protect young people when using contemporary technologies 5.Understand how youth work protects young people.
