Recent Crime Incidents in Sidcup Area

Multiple incidents of robbery, theft, and burglary have occurred in the Sidcup area in March 2023. Victims have encountered groups of suspects, ranging from teenagers to unknown individuals, who have targeted them for their possessions. The crimes involve aggressive approaches, physical altercations, and theft of personal belongings, prompting police intervention and investigations.

  1. ROBBERY STATION ROAD On Friday 24th March 2023 at approximately 22:30 victim was at the traffic lights on Station Road heading towards Sidcup train station. Victim was directly outside Toscana restaurant. There was a group of 6 or 7 suspects outside Toscana restaurant who approached the victim. The group was a mixture of males and females aged 14-16 years. One of the females said to the victim to give her his bike 2 or 3 times and the victim said no. The female then said to the victim to pull over on Longlands Road which he does. The female then aggressively grabs the victims arm as he tries to call the police. As the victim attempts to call the police the female threw two punches at the victims helmet before grabbing his phone out of his hand. Three of the other suspects then hold the victim whilst one male jumps on his bike (Honda NSC110) and rode off down Longlands Road. The female who took the victims phone and the other suspects all ran off in this same direction down Longlands Road. Police were then called. Since the incident the victim doesn t wish to pursue the incident with further action.

  2. ROBBERY POUNDLAND, SIDCUP HIGH STREET Victim states that they walked out of Poundland and was listening to music through their AirPods. Victm felt a kick in the back of their leg and turned around to see two white males approx 14 years. Suspect then called victim a sl*g and grabbed their phone before running away. Victim shouted at the suspect and they returned at which point the victim was able to get their phone back. Victim mentioned that suspect 2 was telling suspect 1 to give them the phone back. Victim stated that suspect started to shake up a bottle of Pepsi and went to throw it at them but victim ran into a store. Approx. 10 minutes later victim walked past a group of girls at a bus stop who told her that the same boy had thrown the Pepsi over them. Victim was questioned if they may have possibly been followed by the suspects and said they may have possibly walked past them. The suspects left the incident and were seen getting onto a bus outside McDonald s. The incident took place at 1515 1540 hours on 25/03/23.

  3. LIDL THEFT On Friday 03rdFebruary at approx 02:55hrs a van drove on to the Lidl construction site off Foots Cray High and stole a Generator. Reg of the van is unknown as cameras didn t capture the incident.

  4. BURGLARY - CHISLEHURST ROAD A property in Chislehurst Road was broken into between Thursday 02nd 03rd February. The victim who is in their 60 s was indoors listening to music when he heard a thud. Victim ignored this but the next day discovered his briefcase being stolen from the cupboard next to the front door. The briefcase contained statements, passport and other private documents. Sidcup SNT visited the victim on Saturday 04thFebruary for reassurance purposes as well as carrying out door to door enquiries. Unfortunately no new leads were established.

  5. BURGLARY SIDCUP HIGH STREET On the 07thFebruary Police were responding to a call from Poundland in Sidcup High Street of a male causing a disturbance and assaulting staff. When Police arrived the suspect had already left the store and an area search took place. Police located this male in McDonalds and a search was carried out. The suspect was in possession of a black rucksack however reports of a burglary nearby had not been materialized by then. Suspect was released and shortly afterwards victims residing in a student flat at the rear of Superdrug reported a burglary and numerous items missing. Victims managed to identify the suspects themselves and gave chase whilst informing the police. Police eventually managed to arrest the main suspect for the burglary and enquiries are ongoing. Sidcup SNT have assisted with the burglary squad throughout identifying cctv footage.

  6. BURGLARY PARK LODGE On Wednesday 08thMarch 2023 a property in Park Lodge, Chislehurst Road was burgled between 0900-1800hrs. Victim had left door keys under the doormat for their son when he returns home from school. The returned and already found the door ajar and went inside. It was then the son discovered the property had been burgled as an untidy search had been carried out in the living room and bedroom. A strong smell of bleach within the property suggested the suspect had bleached property afterwards and only some bottles of alcohol was stolen.

  7. Garage Burglary FARWELL ROAD On Saturday 18thMarch 2023 at approximately 06:15hrs a neighbour was going to his vehicle when he noticed a red Splinter van parked outside the victims property directly opposite. The van had come to notice previously via the whatsapp group for acting suspicious however, on this occasion two Eastern European males could be seen on the drive carrying radiators to the van. When challenged by the neighbour and asked if they had permission to take the property the suspects replied YES before driving off. It was later established that suspects had likely gained access to the property by placing a pallet on the side gate to climb over. The garage was under renovation along with the rest of the house and the garage was wide open to the elements. It s thought suspects had possibly managed to open the garage door from the inside in order to steal the property. Enquiries ongoing at the time of writing.

  8. Burglary DURHAM ROAD Between Friday 10th Sunday 26thMarch a property in Durham Road was burgled. It would appear suspect managed to gain access to the rear of the property via the side gate before forcing a rear window open. An untidy search appears to have taken place throughout the property as many cupboard doors were left open. To date only a metal bracelet was stolen and it s understood the suspects left via the rear door as this was unlocked when the victim returned from holiday. Enquiries ongoing at the time of writing.

  9. MOTOR VEHICLE CRIMES BOOKERS, EDGINGTON WAY On Friday 03rdFebruary a customer was loading their van with cigarettes before jumping into the van to drive off. As the victim got in a suspect opened the rear door as stole a number of packets of cigarettes before making off in a white Nissan Juke. MORRISONS, JENNER CLOSE A Catalytic Converter was stolen from a Honda Jazz between 1100-2120hrs on the 09thFebruary. QUEEN MARY HOSPITAL Catalytic Converter stolen from a VW Beetle on the 09thFebruary between 1100-16.30hrs MAIDSTONE ROAD An Astra van was left roadside on the 23rd December 2022 - 10thFebruary 2023 due to a clutch failure. This issue was passed to the vehicle owners who managed the breakdown. They made contact with the driver and confirmed that the vehicle was never recovered, the vehicle was vandalised whilst it was parked roadside awaiting recovery. MAYLANDS DRIVE - Attempted entry or theft of vehicle parked in driveway REPORTED ON TUESDAY 14THFebruary. Victims car alarm triggered at 04:30hrs according to vehicle software. Victim does not recall hearing any alarm. Security camera on house detected various movements around that time but review playback did not identify any persons in view. MORRISONS, JENNER CLOSE Catalytic Converter stolen from a Lexus RX400 on 27thFebruary between 0630hrs-2130hrs. MORRISONS, JENNER CLOSE On Monday 27thFebruary the victim was at Morrisons to do some shopping and parked their car (KIA Sportage) at around 15.25hrs . When they got back to the car they realised that there was no car key. The victim keeps the car key inside the car. Victim states they always leave them in the box between the front seats. (they use the key to start the engine but to open the car they only use a fob.). When the victim was looking for the key they then noticed their mobile phone which was left in the handbag had disappeared too. BAUGH ROAD A van was broken into at David Lloyds Gym and tools were stolen. This occurred on Friday 03rdMarch between 1700hrs-1840hrs. MORRISONS, JENNER CLOSE Van broken into and tools stolen on Friday 03rdMarch between 1830hrs-1845hrs. TRAVELODGE, SIDCUP HIGH STREET Between Tuesday 07th 08thMarch suspect drilled a large hole in the side of the van but fortunately didn t manage to get into the van. MORRISONS, JENNER CLOSE On Saturday 04thMarch between 1205hrs-1235hrs a Catalytic Converter was stolen from a BMW 3 series. DURHAM ROAD On Wednesday 08thMarch between 2030hrs-2045hrs a white Ford Transit van stolen.

  10. MOTOR VEHICLE CRIMES continued TRAVELODGE, SIDCUP HIGH STREET Suspect drilled hole into side door before gaining access and stealing a pair of gloves. Occurred between 07th-08thMarch. GRASSINGTON ROAD Attempted theft from a van which was parked in the area between 09th 10thMarch however, suspects failed to gain entry due to the dead locks. EYNSWOOD DRIVE Blue badge stolen from a vehicle between Saturday 12th Sunday 13thMarch FARADAY AVENUE Suspect seen lurking outside victims house before approaching the vehicle. Victim believes suspect had a relay device and managed to gain access into the vehicle and steal a pair of sunglasses. Occurred on the 13thMarch between 0130hrs-0140hrs. LADBROOKE CRESCENT Victim reported slashed tyres on their vehicle possibly as a result as a neighbour dispute albeit no evidence suggests this. Occurred between 11th-13thMarch. TRAVELODGE Steering lock broken on a moped which was parked in the Travelodge. Occurred between Sunday 19th 20thMarch. SIDCUP HILL Number plates stolen from a Vauxhall Insignia between 19th-20thMarch 2023. FROGNAL PLACE On Thursday 23rdMarch at 1035hrs the victim witnessed an attempted break-in of their van. A metallic grey car pulled up into the parking lot and a male with a surgical mask on came out with something in his hand that looked like a drill. The suspect walked towards the van and kneeled down pointing the drill to the door of the van. The victim quickly shouted towards the suspect to stop. The suspect then quickly went back to the grey car which then car sped off. MAYLANDS DRIVE Ford Fiesta stolen from outside the victims property between Friday 10th Sunday 16thMarch. LADBROOKE CRESCENT Tyres slashed on the victims vehicle following a domestic on Sunday 26thMarch. WINGATE ROAD Gardening tools stolen from a van after suspects drilled holes in the door. Occurred on the 24thMarch. MORRISONS Handbag stolen from the passenger seat on Friday 31stMarch CRAY ROAD Moped stolen near Coca Cola between Friday31st March 01stApril
