  1. www.recenttraintimes.co.uk - a basic user guide What is "Recent Train Times"? Recent Train Times is a publicly available website that consolidates train running information for passenger services across England, Scotland and Wales. It allows anyone to run reports that show the punctuality of trains and allows for the interrogation of individual trains and locations to drive a punctuality rate. Data is available for up to 100 days. This guide will help you to: 1) Run a basic search 2) Understand the results 3) Interrogate individual train running information

  2. Screen One: Establishing Search Criteria Go to: www.recenttraintimes.co.uk Set From/To station Selecting the station next to your station of interest will give the most detail about whether the train passed through your station. This selection will show all trains which stop at Forest Hill and depart for Sydenham, all operators Set Date/time Parameters You can set weekdays, weekends or all days, and up to 100 days of data. Ensure that the display matches the time period in terms of days for display in order to see all data Click "Get All Train Times" for the most comprehensive information.

  3. Screen Two: Understanding the Results Report This is an extract from the search applied on Screen One. The timetable on the left is the scheduled departure/arrival times. The %/average columns show performance across the selected time period for those selected trains. As the search specified "anytime" and "last 100 days", the data continues downward to reflect every train and rightward to reflect every weekday, going back one hundred days. The most recent data is always on the left. Under each column, the individual train by train performance is shown. They can be clicked on to interrogate the individual train data. Cancelled trains will have a reason for cancellation attached. Where a search straddles a timetable change, or a special timetable was in place for a specific day, some entries may appear to be duplicated or only show for certain days This report tells us that the 06:52 departure from Forest Hill was on time at Sydenham 100% of the time across the 100-day period. The 06:26 service was cancelled on 9th December.

  4. Screen Three: Individual Train Running Information Cancellation Report When you click on a train, it will show a report like the below. In this scenario, the 06:26 Southern service from Forest Hill to Coulsdon Town (shown as 06:11 from London Bridge) was cancelled on 9th December 2020 due to a track circuit failure (signalling) You can tell from the scheduled vs actual arrival/departures that the train never left London Bridge. If the train was cancelled along the way, that would reflect in the actual arrival/departure column. This would help you to see if a train was cancelled at a particular location. If a train is redirected (for example, a train scheduled to go to West Croydon is diverted to Crystal Palace), the additional stations are added into the list below.
