Definition These are medical conditions or diseases that are not Infectious (Non Communicabe) They have prolonged course of Illiness Have Multiple risk factors Highly affect the quality of life Not easily cured, although some can be controlled Treatment is almost for a life time Responsible for 35% of all deaths in low- and middle- income countries AND 60% deaths Globally Many people with NCDs are not aware , a need for periodic screening

Risk factors Modifiable Modifiable risk factors are those that can be controlled or reduced by intervention e.g Physical inactivity Un healthy Diet Harmful use of Alcohol Tobacco use Stress Environment Non Modifiable These are risk factors that cannot be controlled or reduced by an intervention e.g Age Gender Race Genetical
