  3. Basic information In 2011, the traditional census in the Slovak Republic was conducted in an exhaustive way. In 2021 the combined census was conducted mainly with use of administrative data sources and full field enumeration. The objective was to reduce the administrative burden on the population. The census was fully electronic without paper forms. 3

  4. Integrated Census 2021 in Slovakia The 2021 Population and Housing Census was a fully electronic. The Population and Housing Census was carried out in two stages Housing Census and Population Census. The Housing Census was conducted from 1 June 2020 to 12 February 2021. The Population Census taken place from 15 February 2021 to 31 March 2021. 4

Impact COVID-19 on time aspect of 2021 Census The National Council of the Slovak Republic proceeded to amend Act no. 223/2019 Coll. on the Census of Population, Housing and Dwellings in 2021 and on Amendments to Certain Acts. Decided the original census time for the self-counting remained, but the assisted census, which required fieldwork, would be postponed. The pandemic situation in the Slovak Republic got better at the end of April 2021. The President of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic issued a decision on 21 April 2021 to start counting to ensure assisted census for 2021 Census. The date of assisted census was from 3 May 2021 to 13 June 2021. The digitally excluded population had six calendar weeks for the enumeration. 5

Impact COVID-19 on the infrastructure and methodology of 2021 Census Infrastructure aspects: The trainings were originally planned in the classic full-time form, in a short time was prepared e-learning trainings. Hygienic measures to protect the health of contact persons, census assistants and inhabitants had to be observed during the assisted census. Methodology aspects: To the population was especially explained the question What is the periodicity of your travelling to work or school? and a follow question What mode of transport do you use when travelling to work or school? 6

  7. How the data collection is assessed during COVID-19? To work very flexibly and look for new opportunities. We can use a large part of the infrastructure in the future not only for statistical surveys. We have learned to implement a large part of the agenda online and we are used to this form. Fully electronic form, using administrative data sources and the individual processes had to take into account the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a really strong experience for everyone. The world census has certainly marked the COVID-19 pandemic. Use ofthe information technology has started to be used more efficiently. This use had a positive impact on data quality. 7
