Census of India Calendar Phase-1:Houselisting & Housing Census April to September 2020 ( a period of 30 days as chosen by the State) Phase-2: Population Enumeration 9th to 28th February 2021 1st to 5th March 2021 (Revisional Round) Census activities postponed due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic Jurisdictional changes to be updated before start of field work Data Dissemination Provisional population within 3 weeks HLO data 6 to 8 months PE data - Village-wise primary data within 1 year Other PE data and Finalization of NPR data within 2 years 2

Preparation for the Census Notification of Intent of conducting Census about one year in advance Notification of Questions of Houselisting & Housing Census (1st Phase) about 3 months in advance Schedules & Instruction Manuals for 1st Phase are prepared in 18 languages. Training to 100 National Trainers & 1900 Master Trainers Training for Principal Census Officers, District level Census Officers and Charge Officers of States/UTs 3

Broad Methodology Data collection through Mobile App Enumerators to use their own device Paper schedules only in case of connectivity issues Self Enumeration (HLO, NPR & PE) Management & monitoring through Census web portal (CMMS) Online transfer of honorarium Mostly coded responses Minimum descriptive entries such as name and where other is recorded or ORGI Server 4
