Character Descriptions Eric Eric- -Matilda s friend at school. This character has a solo. Amanda Amanda- - Matilda s friend at school. This character has solos. Bruce Bruce- - Matilda s schoolmate. This character has solos. Alice, Tommy and Hortensia Alice, Tommy and Hortensia- - Matilda s schoolmates. Each of these characters have solos and speaking parts. Lavender Lavender- - Matilda s schoolmate. She is kind and bright and quickly becomes Matilda s best friend. Nigel Nigel- - Matilda s schoolmate. He is enthusiastic, sweet, and always in a bit of a panic. This character has a few solos. Matilda Wormwood Matilda Wormwood- - The hero of the show. She is brilliant, resilient, creative, and kind. She develops a bit of magical power. Mr. Wormwood Mr. Wormwood- - Matilda s Father. He is egotistical, rude, a liar, and not very bright. He has harebrained schemes that can be funny. Mrs. Wormwood Mrs. Wormwood- - Matilda s Mother. She is selfish, obsessed with her own appearance, and believes everything she sees on TV. Michael Michael- - Matilda s brother. He is not very bright, though he is the apple of his father s eye. Mrs. Phelps Mrs. Phelps- - The kind librarian who loves hearing Matilda s stories. The Escapologist The Escapologist- - A character of Matilda s creation. Everything this character does is a grand and exaggerated. The Acrobat The Acrobat- - A character of Matilda s creation. Miss Honey Miss Honey- - A teacher at Matilda s school. She is kind, generous, and really cares about children. Agatha Trunchbull Agatha Trunchbull- - The quintessential terrifying tyrant. As headmistress, she runs the school. Rudolpho Rudolpho- - Mrs. Wormwood s self-obsessed dance teacher. Sergei Sergei- - He has been swindled by Mr. Wormwood. He shows up looking for payback but lets them escape.
Bountiful Elementary Thank you for participating in Matilda Jr. Please read the following with your child so you and your child have a complete understanding of what you are agreeing to when you sign. STUDENT AGREEMENT: I understand that (Students please initial in the space provided next to each statement): ______I will come to all my scheduled rehearsals prepared and on time. I will clear any missed rehearsals with the director ahead of time. ______I will always be respectful to my directors and fellow cast members. I understand that I might be removed or dismissed without a refund. if I repeatedly refuse to follow the directions given by adults. ______I am responsible for memorizing my part by the deadline the director gives me, January 4. ______I will have a good attitude, try my best, and contribute in a positive way toward our school production. ______I agree that I will not post anything electronically (positive or negative) about the casting results for a period of 24 hours after the results are posted (also referred to as electronic blackout). ______I will take good care of any bound script I may be given (speaking roles only); I will pay a $10 deposit check which will be held and given back when I return my script in good condition. Student Signature: ____________________________________________ Date:________________ PARENT AGREEMENT: I understand that (Parents please initial in the space provided next to each statement): ______This is an all parent volunteer-run production. I commit to volunteer at least 4 hours of my time to help. If I am unable to do so myself, I will find another person--spouse, grandparent, older sibling, or friend who can volunteer in my place. Elementary age children are not able to be volunteers. _______Rehearsals will be held on some weekday mornings from 7:30-8:40 a.m., and Fridays from 1:30-3:30 p.m. My child will not be needed for all rehearsals and I will check the schedule daily for changes. ______I am responsible for checking the email address I have provided and will be aware of content in emails that have been sent to the participants. ______It is my responsibility to drop my child off to rehearsal on time.
______Participants are needed at every rehearsal they are scheduled (unless they are ill) or they may not be allowed to participate in performances. Absences should be cleared in advance with the musical liaison. ______Auditions will be judged by a non-biased panel of judges. I understand that even though my child may have experience and talent, he or she may not be the right fit for the part they want, and I will help them understand that they are valued for whatever part they play in the show. The majority of major rolls will be filled by students in the upper grades. ______Once the cast list is posted, the registration fee and all related fees are non-refundable. The fees are used to help cover production costs. ______Participation fees include a $35 registration fee for students grade 3-6 and $25 for 2nd grade. Included with the registration fee is a free t-shirt. A script deposit of $10 will be held until student scripts are returned in good condition. ______I agree that neither I nor my child will post anything electronically (positive or negative) about the casting results for a period of 24 hours after the results are posted (also referred to as electronic blackout). ______Roles with speaking parts must be memorized by January 4, and I will help my child learn his/her parts. If my child has not memorized his/her part by the deadline, I understand that it may be given to someone else. I understand it is my responsibility to help rehearse their parts at home. ______I will be responsible to provide some of my student s costume needs, which may include a leotard/undershirt, shorts or pants, specific shoes, or other accessories individualized by his/her role. ______I will be considerate of the students feelings while talking about students and casts during rehearsals. As a parent volunteer, I will not compare or criticize in front of students. I will make their successes the primary focus of my comments. ______A communication liaison person will be provided to answer my questions. I will not text the directors with questions. They will not have time to answer texts. The liaison will pass along information to the directors. If you would like to participate, please complete the attached Registration Papers and return them to your teacher. No audition is needed for 2nd grade Rehearsals begin January 4th. A schedule will be sent out each Friday for the following week. Calling all 2nd Graders! We are so excited to have you join us for our School Musical this year!
