  2. Welcome to Swimming! Swimming is a delayed-gratification sport in an instant- gratification world. ~Gregg Troy, former Head Coach for University of Florida Swimming is not about swimming, it s about the lessons learned from it The role of a swim parent to support your kids and the team!

  3. Who is BWTD? We are the TIDE, and we are Rising. RISE Respect, Integrity, Strength, Endurance (courtesy of Sarah Dennison) We are a place where ANYONE and EVERYONE has the same opportunity to realize their potential. We believe that proper technique is VITAL to long-term success in the sport. We believe in being better today than we were yesterday.

  4. 2021-2022 Highlights Over 140 Swimmers Four Senior Champs Qualifiers and Eight Junior Olympics Qualifiers Eight Sunkissed Qualifiers Our first Senior Zones Qualifier since 2017 (Jackson Parisi) One Coach named ASCA 30 Under 30 (Ana) Raised $10,000 at Swim-A-Thon 2022

Brief Description of Practice Groups Pre-Competitive: 8&Unders, novice, just learning the basics No Meets Tidal Waves: 10&Unders, novice, building on previous experience, learning to enjoy the sport Bronze: 7-12, improving all strokes, starts, turns, still technique focused Silver: 8-13, combination of technique and building aerobic base Gold 1: 10-14, focus shifts towards building aerobic base for long-term performance success Gold 2: 11-14, focus on conditioning, race strategy, and performing at high levels Junior: 13&O, focus is on technique and preparing swimmers for Senior/National Senior: 13&O, focus is on aerobic work while mixing in technique and race strategy National: 13&O, highest performance group, not as much focus on technique, preparing swimmers to compete at state level and beyond

  8. Attendance Policy National Group: 65% Attendance or moved down a group the following season Senior, Gold 2, and Gold 1: 55% Attendance or moved down a group the following season All groups: 40% Attendance to retain spot on team for following season

Required Equipment All groups WATER BOTTLES, plus extra goggles and caps Pre-Competitive Kickboards & Fins Tidal Waves & Bronze Kickboards, Fins, & Snorkel Silver, Gold, & Junior Kickboards, Fins, Snorkel, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Socks Senior & National Kickboards, Fins, Snorkel, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Socks, Buckets Not a bad idea Swim Journal Equipment can be bought online at Ultimate Swim Shop

  10. Whats New USA Swimming Registration Used to be Head Coach s responsibility now the parents! Links to register, as well as guides, have been sent via email Work Bond Points Work Bond Policy will be updated by end of month to reflect new practice groups Need a Volunteer Coordinator to help keep track of work-bond points

  11. Whats New (Training Trip Edition Part 1) Training Trip 2023 Olympic Training Center?! For Whom Current National, Senior, Gold 2 Swimmers Possible Dates 6/25 7/1 or 7/5 7/11 Budgeted Cost per swimmer (estimated, unsubsidized) - $1600 Based on cost of facility, plane ticket, shirt, and possible day trip Hoping to decrease cost with fundraising (have $190 fundraised from BWW last month) Panera Fundraiser (upcoming) Music Fundraiser (current) Goal is to have a training trip every other year with enough fundraising

  12. Whats New (Training Trip Edition Part 2) Only going if 10 swimmers sign up. Only taking 20 swimmers max. The better your attendance, the earlier you can register Swimmers with 80% attendance or better can register 12/1 Swimmers with 70% attendance or better can register 12/8 Swimmers with 60% attendance or better can register 12/15 Swimmers with 55% attendance or better can register 12/22 Swimmers under 55% between start of season and 12/1 are not eligible for training trip Will either be me and a full-time assistant (IF WE GET ONE) or a parent chaperone if we have over ten swimmers

Housekeeping (Part 1) Locker Rooms 12&Us: Child Locker rooms unless with a parent 13&Os: Can use adult locker rooms but no sauna/steam room Before Practice Swimmers under 10 must be supervised by a parent/guardian Swimmers waiting for practice in the indoor pool should sit on bleachers until coach is ready to warm up Parents at practice Parents are allowed to observe practice Indoor Pool: Bleachers under clock, bleachers near ramp Outdoor Pool: Chairs Parents are NOT allowed to stand on the pool deck Parents are NOT allowed to talk to swimmers or coaches during practice

Housekeeping (Part 2) Weather cancellations/changes Will be communicated through email & TeamUnify SMS If you don t receive an email, assume practice is still happening Swim Meets We are a competitive swim team, and it is expected our competitive swimmers compete Can t swim in Championship Meets (February, March, July) w/o recent times Swim Meet etiquette Let a coach know if you re running late/can t make it If you re on time, you re late Bring the right snacks and drinks (a liter cola is not appropriate) No electronic devices

Social Committee Each group should have two Social Coordinators who set up activities outside the pool Necessary for team camaraderie, relationship building, and swimmer retention Current filled and open positions can be found on the team website under the Parent Info -> Social Committee Subtab Goal is to have at one social per group per season, if not more. Feel free to combine groups for socials.
