A program to help bring scientists and public audiences together in face-to-face interactions at Informal Science Education (ISE) institutions Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) learning outside of formal school settings Science Communication workshops for scientists who then participate in public programs Funded by National Science Foundation 30 Partner Institutions across US

Our Impact Inspiring people to value the biological richness and cultural heritage of our diverse world and make a positive difference in its future.

  6. How will it work here? Short term plan- Spring 2014: Presentations to staff & administrators Prototype workshops to CSL staff Recruit Cohort1 strategically through Faculty (ten grad students) Prototype and Cohort 1 workshops (1@1 day each) Graduates participate in public programs: Spring/Summer 2014

Long term plan- Fall 2014: UF Office of Research has offered to coordinate meeting for UF communications staff Partner with Office of Research & others at UF Add workshops to Explore Research Broader Impacts suite FLMNH branding and marketing Graduates may be named Museum Fellows Professional development elements can be used for docents, camp teachers, JVs, staff

Long term plan- Fall 2014: Three workshops @ 3-hours each Two weeks between each workshop (time to reflect) Workshop 1: About us, program, inquiry-based communication, professional development (PD) Workshop 2: PD, about your research, developing your message Workshop 3: PD, facilitation, presentation strategies
