  1. Lesson 2 I can explain why some materials are not suitable for particular uses.

  2. What materials are spoons made from?

  3. Spoon race Collect spoons from different materials. Also make a spoon from paper or foil. You are going to have a race with the spoons. You will be racing against each other to move the sugar from one bowl to another one using the spoons on your tables. You all have the same amount of sugar in your bowls to keep it as a fair test. Why is that important? After 2 minutes, we will swap our spoons round. Which spoon was the best? Which one was the worst? Why do you think that is?

  4. Same object but different materials. When would you use these spoons?

  5. Woolly Saucepan? Michael Rosen Could I have a woolly saucepan, a metal jumper, a glass chair and a wooden windowpane please? Er-sorry I mean could I have a woolly chair, a glass jumper, a wooden saucepan and a metal windowpane please? Er- sorry I mean Oh blow it! You know what I mean, don t you?

  6. Silly uses for materials Can you imagine having a spoon made out of tissue paper? Why would this be a silly material for a spoon? Can you imagine different objects which use inappropriate materials? What could you have? Task: Choose 3 or 4 different objects. Example wooden chair, metal spoon, plastic bowl, glass window. Mix them up and create your own jumbled poem like Michael Rosen s. Don t forget to email me your new poem!
