  2. Welcome to Welcome to our our secondary secondary school school We are a state secondary school (first grade) serving a town community. " M.R.Imbriani school" is a school in Corato, a town in Puglia, a large region in the South of Italy. It's located in the suburb area and it's one of the four middle schools in the town. The school provides education for pupils aged 11 to 13, with 380 currently on roll, who are predominantly white, Italian. Pupils come from diverse socio economic backgrounds. They experience a broad curriculum and have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of extra curricular activities. 8% of our pupils have a special educational need. Our school is registered on eTwinning.

  3. Coat Coat of of arms arms of of corato corato It has four towers at the angles of a heart of red colour in the centre of it;over the coat of arms there s a crown. Under the coat of arms there s a motto written in Latin: core sine labe doli (heart without a stain of deception), that points out the fidelity and the loyalty of the people living in Corato.

  4. MURGIA AND TRULLI AROUND CORATO Corato is surrounded by hills called murgia: great open spaces in which the spontaneous vegetation dominate interrupted ,now and then by old shelters made of stones called trulli used in the past by sheperds.

  12. THE TOWN HALL, FORMER FRANCISCAN CONVENT OF SAINT CATALDO. IT HAS BEEN BUILT 1506 BY THE GREY FRIARS NEXT TO AN OLD CHURCH THAT ROSE ON THE PLACE OF THAT MIRACULOUS APPARITION OF SAINT CATALDO IN 1483 DURING A TERRIBLE PLAGUE. IN THE CHIOSTRO THERE ARE SOME MILE STONES THAT WERE FOUND BESIDE AN OLD ROMAN ROAD TRAIANA BECAUSE TRAIANO WAS ROMAN EMPEROR WHO BUILT THIS IMPORTANT ROAD IN 109 A.D.

  13. De Mattis palace and the Public Library DE MATTIS PALACE WITH ITS NIKNAME THE BUILDING OF THE SHARP STONES DUE TO THE DIAMOND SHAPED STONES WHICH COVER THE BUILDING. NOT FAR FROM THIS BUILDING AND IN THE SAME STREET THERE IS CATALANO PALACE THAT TAKES THE NAME FROM ANTONIO CATALANO, BLACKSMITH, WHO BUILT IT IN 1598. IN SQUARE OF THE SEATS THERE IS THE PUBLIC LIBRARY.

  14. SAINT MICHAEL ARCH TYPICAL OF THE OLD HISTORICAL PART OF THE TOWN ARE THE NUMEROUSE ARCHES AND ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL IS NEAR CATALANO PALACE : SAINT MICHAEL ARCH.

WINE Very important is the production of wine with the presence of approximately 2000 hectares of wineyards for the production of very sweet grapes to eat and grapes for the production of different kinds of wine; the most important wineries are Torrevento and Terramaiour not far the famous Castel del Monte whose bottles of wine are sold all over the world.

  18. PASTA Very important is also pasta. In Corato there are two big paste factories. The alimentary field with two big industries of pasta: Granoro and Riscossa very well known not only in Italy but also abroad for their production of their delicious kind of Italian pasta made in Corato

  19. OLIVE OIL Typical of our town is the production of one of the finest olive oil in Italy, made with a special kind of olives called Coratina from the name of our town

  20. PUGLIA Puglia is one of the twenty region in Italy. It is a region of Italy in Southern Italy, bordering the Adriatic sea to the east, the Ionion Sea to the southeast, and the Strait of Otranto and Gulf of Taranto to the south

  21. RUVO 7 KM FROM CORATO. THERE IS THE JATTA MUSEUM, AN IMPORTANT CATHEDRAL AND A NICE OLD CITY CENTER TO VISIT.

  22. BARLETTA: COLOSSUS BARLETTA 30 km from corato. There is an old castle near the sea to visit, a cathedrale and a big statue (5 meters tall) called COLOSSUS made of bronze placed in the heart of the city.

  23. -CASTEL DEL MONTE, 7 KM FROM CORATO. THIS MYSTERIOUS CASTLE KNOWN WORLDWIDE WITH ITS PECULIAR OCTAGONAL SHAPE. -TRANI: CATHEDRAL. TRANI, 12 KM FROM CORATO. IT S A WONDERFUL TOWN ON THE ADRIATIC SEA WITH MANY THINGS TO SEE AND VISIT; AN OLD AND WELL PRESERVED HARBOUR, A MAGNIFICENT CATHEDRAL AND A CASTLE BUILT BY FEDERICO II IN 1233.
