  2. We are here for our students and for you! KIS Staff recognize the importance of partnering with families and the community; It takes a village! DISCIPLINE - is the ability to make yourself do something you don t want to do, in order to get a result you really want to get. The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary. Let s partner together to motivate our students to do their best and be their best!

  3. Daily Information If you have any questions, concerns, issues please call Mr. Berrier, Mrs. Gulley or I at any time! We can t help if we don t know about the situation. School hours are 8 AM to 3 PM - students can be dropped off as early as 7:30 AM If students are dropped off before 7:40, they are to go to their lockers and remain there until they can proceed to their first period/homeroom or breakfast Backpacks are encouraged to bring materials to and from home, but they will no longer be used during the day Students are encouraged to have a water bottle with them to refill throughout the day - WATER ONLY PLEASE - no additives, juices or sports drinks

Power School - able to monitor student grades, discipline, attendance, etc. If you have any questions, please contact the teacher first - often times it is a simple mistake Panther Posts - usually Friday afternoons, but essentially each weekend, a newsletter with important information is sent home via email and put on our website under Panther Post Chrome books - students will have one assigned to them and it will be theirs throughout the year and beyond. Please monitor the usage and have students take care of their devices, and their CHARGERS, charges may be applied for damage to the devices. (PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE STICKERS) Remind students to not record and post any pictures or videos of themselves or others online Free Breakfast for all Students! Lunch is $2.70 - GAMES, GAMES, GAMES!

Daily Information, cont If a student is going to be absent, PLEASE CALL THE MAIN OFFICE TO REPORT THE ABSENCE Our secretaries make calls every morning to families of absent students if we haven t heard from a parent/guardian reporting the absence If you email, please email both, Karen Meeks and Sherri Messer Missed Work Google Classrooms - teachers post assignments there - most of our curriculums are online Call the office and hard copies can be collected for pick up Reset Room Mrs. Black is our reset room monitor Purpose of the room is to give students a safe place to collect themselves and re-enter the classroom Important Dates Picture Day - August 17th - Picture Retakes - September 28th 1st Nine Week Midterms - Friday, Sept 2nd - End of 1st Nine Weeks - Friday, Oct. 7th Homecoming Game - Friday, Sept. 23rd - Parade and event night - Wednesday, Sept. 21st. NWEA Testing - Beings Tuesday, August 9th

  6. Daily Information Cont.. Quarterly Incentive Events - dances, Late Show, Sock Hops, etc. - all effort and attitude based! Cell Phones are to be turned off and placed in lockers for the entire school day Home Athletic Events - we would love to have a student section Students who cannot act appropriately will be removed and not allowed to attend events Panther Market - students earn Panther Dollars throughout the school year and can redeem them for items in our Panther Market - this is replacing our positive referrals from last year

Daily Information Cont GOAL SETTING MONDAY - Monday, August 8th RTI Every student will have a 30-35 minute RTI daily Edgenuity - excellent rigorous program that meets students exactly where they are and adapts throughout the program to what they need Weekly completion goals If goals are met = Fun or Free Friday Nurse Services Tracie Smith - Director of Health Services, Nikki Logan and Kelly Hall - Nurse Assistants Provide basic First Aid All medications given must be approved by parents and controlled through the nurse s office Medication Documentation - must be completed EACH YEAR!

  8. Some of our Biggest Road Blocks.. Social Media - Facebook, Instagram, Tiktock, Snap Chat, Discord, internet chat rooms, etc. Please monitor student usage of these platforms Cyber Bullying - the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature. It becomes a school issue, because it creates a disruption at school; ex. Devious Licks Vaping and Tobacco Products Unfortunately, this is becoming a major issues for schools across the country A common place of where they keep them are in their undergarments Student Conflicts Often times, friends get mad at each other, then argue, then are friends again, then argue again, and it is very difficult to monitor the situation 2nd Hand Information - false rumors Bullying - Bullying is defined as overt, repeated acts or gestures, including: a) verbal or written communication transmitted; b) physical acts committed; or c) any other behaviors committed; by a student or group of students against another student with the intent to harass, ridicule Bus Behavior The bus ride is no different than sitting in the classroom - all school rules apply Very difficult for bus drivers to pay attention to the road and anyone causing issues on the bus

Extra Curricular Opportunities - KIS offers students lots of opportunities to get involved: - Student Council - VOICE - National Junior Honors Society - Art Club - Photography Club - Science Master - Academic Teams - 6-8th Drama Team - 5-4 Drama Team - GSA Gay Straight Alliance - Student Athletics - And more to come .

Important Topics for 4/5th Graders - - Chrome books will stay in the classroom unless a specific arrangement is made Lunches - 5th - 10:30-11:00 AM - 4th - 12:30-1:00 PM - Snacks are encouraged Specials - 4th - Music, Band, Art, Media, PE - 5th - Music, Art, Keyboarding, Media, PE - option of Band 4th Grade = traditional elementary classroom 5th Grade = homerooms - RTI, Science/Social Studies, switch for math and ELA - - - - - Father Daughter Dance - new tradition at KIS - 1st semester - TBD Our 4th and 5th Grade Teams are amazing - please feel free to contact them if you have any questions, issues, or concerns you may have.

  11. Important Topics to Remember for Junior Highers - Late Work Policy - All work is expected to be turned in during the class period that it is due. All teachers accept late work within the following parameters, at teacher and administrators discretion: - A week from due date- a student will not receive higher than a 75% on the assignment - After the first week from the due date- a student will not receive higher than a 50% on the assignment. - Cadet Teachers - 7/8th - Option for all 7/8th students - IF - it can fit into their schedule and their supervising teacher agrees to having them as a cadet teacher - Please don t drops students off before 7:30 - Go to locker until bus students are released - Breakfast, 1st Period, Walk the Square - only time cell phones will be allowed WORK HARD and HAVE FUN!
