Discipline Plan

*In our class, we use a traffic light chart to track our behavior
throughout the day (green, yellow, and red).
-
Depending on the students behavior throughout the day, that
will determine what color they receive at the end of the day.
Green=
great choices throughout the day (following directions, completing
classwork, being kind)
Yellow=
Needed 3 reminders (off task, not following the directions, not being
kind to others)
Red=
Not making great choices (didn’t complete classwork, not following
school/classroom rules, not working well with others, etc.)
* A phone call home will be made.
-
Parents need to sign the chart in their red folder
every night.
-
This will begin October 4
th
.
* Students
can always
move back
to green
throughout
the day!
Units

Workshop. Students will begin reading from book bins and learn how to share,
retell, and talk about books that they have read independently and with a
partner.
Launching the Writing Workshop! - This unit introduces the students to the
world of writing. Routines and procedures for Writer's Workshop are
introduced and students quickly identify themselves as authors and illustrators.
Students will get to write both narrative (stories) and informational writing in
this unit.

numbers 1-5

Reading
15 minutes every night and color in the reading log.
Read to your child
I suggest: reading books with patterns (Example: I see the _______. )
Encourage "reading" (even if they can’t read, and can only tell the story through the
pictures or their memory).
 1-2 math worksheets

Birthdays
-
If you would like to bring in something for you’re a birthday, it must be brought by your child
in the morning, or dropped off to the receptionist before their lunch period at 11:10.
Birthday parties:
-
School policy is that students must invite
EVERYONE
in the class to their birthday party
OR
all the girls/all the boys
. If this is not the case, please handle invitations outside of school.
-
In the packet I handed out, I provided a class list of names.
