Vanuatu Delegation Preparation for COP27 NAB Meeting

The Vanuatu delegation is gearing up for the COP27 NAB Meeting scheduled for April 20th, 2022. The COP is vital for reviewing the implementation of the Convention and making decisions to enhance its effectiveness. 1. VANUATU DELEGATION TO COP27 NAB Meeting NAB Meeting Wednesday 20 Wednesday 20th thApril 2022 April 2022

2. The COP is the supreme decision-making body of the Convention. All States that are Parties to the Convention are represented at the COP, at which they review the implementation of the Convention and any other legal instruments that the COP adopts and take decisions necessary to promote the effective implementation of the Convention, including institutional and administrative arrangements. COP 27 (2022) COP27 set to take place in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt in November from 7 to 18 November, 2022 COP 27 (2022)

3. The UNFCCC TF in its first meeting of 2022 made a decision to retain nominated COP26 Delegates Essentially COP26 Delegates comprises of NAB Members following DG/Chair of this Board request & others Our Foreign office diplomats have also been included Others currently not included will be for DG s approval

4. Retain the pool of negotiators/delegates Delegate positions at the key Institutions Priority Thematic Areas Consider time & effort of COP26 delegates participating virtually in country last year Seek NAB Members re-confirmation of their nominations from last year Current Covid situation

5. Obtain NAB Endorsement Engage delegates on UNFCCC meetings, negotiations training leading up to participation at COP27 Commence logistical arrangements regarding our participation at the COP 1. Physical COP 2. Virtual COP 3. Both (Physical & COP) We need NAB Members support
