UTEP Cares 2019: Making a Difference Together
UTEP Cares 2019 initiative, led by Shafik Dharamsi and Nicole Aguilar, aims to increase participation and donations through the SECC campaign. In 2018, UTEP employees raised a significant amount, emphasizing student involvement. The SECC Committee encourages student engagement and generosity, offering a teachable moment about giving. The unit with the highest participation in donations will get a chance to dunk various personalities, making giving a fun and rewarding experience.

Goal: Increase Participation
SECC: Local Highlights 2018 state employees in El Paso raised $188,192 2018 568 UTEP Faculty and Staff participated and contributed $102,921 through the S.E.C.C. campaign UTEP employees accounted for over 55% of the total raised in El Paso.

Miners Give Teachable Moment The SECC Committee discussed early on about getting our students involved in the process, while being mindful of their financial burdens. We recommend taking 5-10 minutes of your class time the week of October 14 to discuss the idea of giving and generosity with our students. The SECC will provide a few PPT slides that you can use in your classes for this purpose. We are still exploring ways on how students might be able to give; we will update the UTEP community as plans are being finalized
