  1. Restraint Data Entry Updates in the Security Portal

  2. Add Restraint for Out of State Student Restraint Reports must be reported for any non- resident of MA who does not have a MA SASID Include first and last name initial only. The remainder of the restraint report is completed in the same fashsion as for MA students. 2 Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

  3. Removed Other Data shows schools and programs were using Other to report an escort (a brief physical contact to promote student safety). An escort is not a restraint nor does is it required to be reported to DESE. Moving forward choose one of the 4 restraint options: standing, seated, floor supine, floor prone REMINDER: If the restraint involves multiple restraints, HOLD USED should be categorized as the MOST RESTRICTIVE HOLD. Please Choose: Standing Seated Floor Supine Floor Prone 3 Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

  4. Injuries If an injury is sustained during the restraint an additional dropdown box will appear to identify who was injured. Choose Student, Staff or Both 4 Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

  5. Prone Restraint Requirements When a prone restraint is administered, these six additional fields need to be completed.
