LEICESTER CITY Capacity for special schools 2019/20 is 1058 places 7910 CYP receiving support in schools and colleges Forecast shows over 1300 places needed for 2020/21 2700 with EHCP These CYP face multiple barriers in education but you are all working hard towards breaking down barriers and making reasonable adjustments in very challenging times. SEND are working hard to get things right and support schools with all that you are doing, working in collaboration and keeping communication channels open. Investing 20 million in SEND to create specialist provision and places

  4. KEY PRIORITIES Backlog EHCP Change processes Restructure 500k investment 1. Getting all annual reviews and EHCP s completed in a timely manner 1. 2 x EHCIO assessment process and co-ordinate advice 1. Restructure SES team 2. 1 x team leader 2. 4 x plan writing 3. 2 x family engagement workers 2. Backlog will be removed by end of Nov 20 3. 1 x consultation to schools 4. 2 x EHCIO 4. 1 x annual reviews 3. Improve our 20 week data, currently at 80%.

  5. MORE PLACES Designated special provision Whole School SEND Special School places 1. 83 places in 5 units this year 1. Working with schools to be inclusive and support CYP in mainstream settings. 1. Additional places for 2020/21 and beyond had already been agreed for 7 special schools in Leicester city providing 97 places with 38 to follow later on this year. 2. Further 8 units planned for September 2021 with 78 additional places. 2. Providing funding for SEN CYP with no EHCP. 3. Discussions for further schools to come on board with DSP. 3. Working collaboratively with Sue Welford, Mel Gaiderman, Sophie Maltby, Ed Psych s. to offer health and wellbeing training and support for staff and students.

More engagement from Heads around the future of SEND in the city Development of an holistic and inclusive SEND model Continued focus on outcomes for CYP and how we provide the best support to achieve this. Continued engagement with parents and listening to CYP views / feedback and implementing this into the future of SEND. Stability for SEND in the LA , with new Head of SEND, Principal Educational Psychologist ( Mohammed Bham), Promotion of Sophie Maltby as Service Manger for SEND support service, SES Service manager Vicki Urch. GOING FORWARD

GOING FORWARD Strengthening the specialist teaching service, with Sophie leading the way Achieving outcomes on EHCP and celebrating ceasing a plan Getting Children and young people to own their EHCP Improving the quality of EHCP Developing strategies and support from Early years, Primary to Secondary Supported internships Collaborative working PfA strategy
