  1. Seducing Spirits

  2. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 (KJV) Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Everyone who intends to please God and make it through to Heaven needs knowledge of seducing spirits. These spirits strive to influence everyone they can to depart from the faith speaking lies in hypocrisy have their conscience seared with a hot iron

  3. Definition Seducing" is to lead astray, to corrupt, to lead or draw away, as from principles, faith, or allegiance Seducing also means to attract, especially with the (promise) of pleasure or reward Seduction is frequently used more broadly as a synonym for the act of charming someone male or female by an appeal to the senses Galatians 3:1a O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you? (KJV) Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you ? (NLT)

  4. Tool #1. Deception Genesis 3:1-5 (KJV) Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. They intend to get what they want at all costs, but this intention can be cleverly disguised. They do not tell you the full story or tell truth wrapped in a lie They exaggerate They create doubt and uncertainty concerning God s truthfulness and motives They undermine your confidence in the trustworthiness of God s Word They make you think you are better off sinning than not sinning.

  5. Tool #2. Isolation Proverbs 18:1 (ESV) Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment. They separate you from your support system They are extremely jealous of anyone they perceive to be a threat or who gets close enough to influence someone they want to control. They are divisive and send separation and strife into the strongest relationships. They can emit jealousy into a room, as they play one person against another.

  6. Tool #3. Manipulation Judges 16:15-16 (KJV) 15And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth. 16And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; The control you unfairly to their own advantage They elicit your pity They make you feel guilty They make innuendos or insinuations They buy you over with gifts CHECK: For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10, ESV) The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. (Proverbs 29:25, ESV)

  7. Tool #4. Religion 2 Timothy 3:5-6 (KJV) 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts They replace a genuine relationship with God with works and traditions. They can talk the talk They have a form of godliness. Their religious deeds are done for all to see. They claim to pray more, study the Bible more, or know more about worship, ministry, intercession, or missions. They do not exhibit the fruit of the Spirit

  8. Tool #5. Flattery Proverbs 6:24 (KJV) To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Proverbs 7:21 (KJV) With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. They tell you want to hear, to win you over to their domination. They are charming, charismatic

  9. Tool #6. Persistence Genesis 39:7,10 (KJV) 7And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 10And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. Acts 24:16 (KJV) And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men. 1 Timothy 1:19 (NLT) Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked. They will not take no for an answer They put pressure on you to violate your conscience or to break down your principles.

  10. Tool #7. Exploitation Psalms 82:4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. (KJV) Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. (ESV) They focus on your weaknesses and exploit them, like lions (1 Peter 5:8). They identify your blind spots or hurts and use them to confuse you.

  11. What you should do #1: Resist James 4.7 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 1 Peter 5.8-9 (KJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. Pay attention! Your reputation, your testimony, your service to God, your relationship with God are important! Do not think you can disobey God and resist seducing spirits. Romans 13.14 (KJV) But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Do not put yourself into situations where spiritual seduction is more likely. Do not conduct yourself in ways whereby your actions will be questioned without you be able to satisfactorily deny wrongdoing. The enemy is just as happy when people think you have sinned.

  12. What you should do #2: Repent If you are convicted that you are operating in a Seducing Spirit and want to be rid of it, renounce it, repent of ways you have used it, ask God s forgiveness and that of others, sumbit to God and receive God s power to forsake it and move only under the control of His Holy Spirit. If you recognize that you have been a victim of a seducing spirit, forgive the offender, renounce their grip on you, and release yourself to being controlled by Jesus only. Destroy whatever is a reminder of their hold over you.

  13. James 1:12-16 (KJV) 12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. 16Do not err, my beloved brethren.
