Don Pedro describes Beatrice as a ‘Well
spirited lady.’
Analysis – Pedro see’s through Beatrice’s lip
and considers her to be ‘spirited.’ This tells us
that Pedro is kind as he complements
Beatrice, proving he respects her and is
friendly towards her and others.
 
Don Pedro is… Judgemental
 
Pedro says he would feel terrible if he were…
 
‘To link my friend to
a common stale.’
 
Don Pedro is… Judgemental
 
Pedro has been tricked by Don John, and this
quote tells us that he is too quick to judge
Hero, as he does so wrongly.
This quote also proves Don Pedro can be
spiteful and harsh, as he has publically
shamed/downgraded Hero wrongly.
This also tells us he is disgusted that he might
have had a role in ‘linking’ (joining) Claudio
and Hero, and wishes to clear his name.

It also shows that he is full of ideas and willing

He plans to bring Beatrice and Benedick…

This quote talks about the theme of deception in a
positive way, as we want Beatrice and Benedick to fall
in love.
It proves Pedro is deceiving, but does so with the best
intentions.
He does this partly for the satisfaction, but also
because he believes Benedick and Beatrice should be
together.
This could make Don Pedro appear kind, caring and
helpful as he wants to aid others in their happiness.
This could also mean he is a bit of a deceiving meddler.

This is proved when Leonato is excited when

Pedro tells Beatrice that…
 
‘I will find thee a
husband.’
 
Don Pedro is… Willing to help others
 
The fact that Pedro gives himself the task of
providing Beatrice a husband proves he is
willing to go out of his way to help others.
‘Will’ – This word acts as a promise, as Pedro
promises he will carry out the task of finding
Beatrice a husband himself.
As he has a higher rank than Beatrice it is
surprising he is willing to do this, and this
emphasises how helpful he is willing to be.

Don Pedro is… Manipulative
 
The fact that Don Pedro gives himself the talk of
wooing Hero over shows that he know he is
manipulative.
‘unclasp’- presents that Don Pedro is going to
release  Claudio’s affection for Hero and even
though Don Pedro does not love Hero he can
manipulate Hero to think he is Claudio and woo
her over for him.
To add to this Don Pedro presents himself as a
strong character conveying him as manipulative.

Benedick tell Don Pedro that the prince must…
 
“get thee a wife”
 
Don Pedro is… Selfless
 
This presents that in al  the commotion of getting
Beatrice and Benedick together and wooing Hero
over, Don Pedro himself has not had a chance to
think of himself and get himself happiness.
The quote presents that even thought Don Pedro
can get a wife due to all the power he is give, he
choses not to as he put forward other peoples
happiness before his, which presents that Do
Pedro is a selfless character.

Don Pedro tells his brother Don John…
 
‘I will join with thee to
disgrace her.’
 
Don Pedro is… Gullible
 
This presents that Don Pedro is very gullible and
that he cannot look through his brother devilish
schemes which conveys him as a person who is
quick to believe evil.
‘disgrace’ – portrays that he will take away Hero’s
rights as a women and will make her useless to
any man, this shows us that Don Pedro is very
gullible and does not think a lot before he acts as
he knew that Hero wouldn’t do such a thing but
he cannot see that as he is very gulliable and
quick to judge.

Beatrice says to Do Pedro…
 
‘your grace is to costly to
wear every day.’
 
Don Pedro is… Powerful
 
Don Pedro is portrayed as a very powerful and noble
character as he is very well respected and treated is
society.
‘Grace’ – presents that Don Pedro is well respected and
greeted in society
‘Costly’ –exhibits that Don Pedro is rich and powerful
The quote shows that Beatrice cannot take Don Pedro’s
hand in marriage as he is a very well respected and
powerful person and that it seems that Beatrice finds
Don Pedro to rich and powerful to take his hand In
marriage.
