The Warning of Worldliness in Revelation
The images and verses from Revelation 17 highlight the dangers of worldliness, spiritual adultery, and the deception of the world system. The vivid descriptions of a woman on a scarlet beast, symbolizing worldly allure and opposition to God, serve as a cautionary tale against being ensnared by the attractions of the sinful world. The imagery of the woman adorned luxuriously but holding abominations signifies spiritual unfaithfulness and the consequences of straying from God's path. The symbolic references to a beast and the woman drunk with the blood of saints underscore the severity of yielding to worldly temptations and the ultimate fate of those who fall prey to its deception.

THE DANGER OF WORLDLINESS
Revelation 17:3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns.
WORLD -The fallen, sinful world system that is in opposition to God and His kingdom
REVELATION 17:4 ESV The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality.
SPIRITUAL ADULTERY is unfaithfulness to God by having an undue fondness for the things of the world.
REVELATION 17:6 And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I marveled greatly.
REVELATION 17:8 ESV The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to risefrom the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.
REVELATION 17:9 ESV This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated;
REVELATION 17:1011 ESV they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction.
REVELATION 17:16 ESV And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire,
GALATIANS 6:78 ESV Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
JAMES 1:1415 ESV But each person is temptedwhen he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
Application Meditate on Christ and His Word and not on the cares of this world.
