Objective: How to calculate a percent change CHANGE EXPRESSED AS A PERCENT
PERCENT CHANGE The ratio of the amount of change to the original amount expressed as a percent. amount of increase or decrease % original amount = p If a new amount is greater than the original amount, the percent change is called a Percent increase: the percent change found when the original amount increases. amount of increase = new amount - original amount If the new amount is less than the original amount, the percent change is called a Percent decrease: the percent change found when the original amount decreases. amount of decrease = original amount - new amount
