  28. 1. It represents the person Affiliation This was their identity, their family name, their family connection. Each Tzitzit was fashioned in a unique way that would identify the family by which it was made. This is what we would call today our signature mark. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 28

  29. 2. They represents the person Association this is their social and economical status, position and clout within the community. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 29

  30. The Tzitzit, which were an outward visible sign of their status, associating them with wealth. The higher their social and economic status or the more money that they had, was reflected on the length of their Tzitzit or tassel. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 30

  31. It would be like today if someone purposely pulled up and parked right next to your Volkswagen Bug in a Lamborghini Aventador with 700 HP or in a Ferrari F12 with 730 HP V12 engine and stepped out of their car and frown at you as they walked away. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 31

  32. What did Jesus say about all of this? Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 32

  33. Luke 20 45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, 46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; 47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 33

  34. Jesus made this comment as he was watching the people entering the temple for prayer and he talked about the scribes as they walked around with long flowing robes on so everybody will see that they were people of prominence, position and power. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 34

  38. 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 38

  39. 5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 39

  40. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Note: when you cover your head with the Tallit and close it up, this is the closet that Jesus was talking about. Covering your head, closing up the Tallit , is the shutting of the door. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 40

Keep it a secret between you, the person (s) and God. What we do in secret from a sincere heart Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 42

  43. As unto the Lord will have and open reward. You don t need to tell no one that you took a person to the store and bought their groceries for them or paid a debt on their behalf. The moment you boast and brag about it, you have just received your reward. This is seeking the praises of men and not the approval of God. Author_Pastor Johnny Burns_New Life Church, Ledyard, CT 43
