Exodus 33:
Depending upon our intimacy with God, is
how apt we are to catch a glimps of His
glory.
Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses
face to face, as a man speaks to his
friend. When Moses turned again into the
camp, his assistant Joshua the son of
Nun, a young man, would not depart
from the tent.
Exodus 33:11
ESV
Moses said to the Lord, “See, you say to
me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have
not let me know whom you will send with
me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by
name, and you have also found favor in
my sight.’
Exodus 33:12
ESV
Now therefore, if I have found favor in
your sight, please show me now your
ways, that I may know you in order to
find favor in your sight. Consider too that
this nation is your people.”
Exodus 33:13
ESV
And he said, “My presence will go
with you, and I will give you rest.”
And he said to him, “If your
presence will not go with me, do
not bring us up from here.
Exodus 33:14–15
ESV
For how shall it be known that I have
found favor in your sight, I and your
people? Is it not in your going with us, so
that we are distinct, I and your people,
from every other people on the face of
the earth?”
Exodus 33:16
ESV
And the Lord said to Moses, “This
very thing that you have spoken I
will do, for you have found favor
in my sight, and I know you by
name.”
Exodus 33:17
ESV
Moses said, “Please show me
your glory.”
Exodus 33:18
ESV
And he said, “I will make all my
goodness pass before you and will
proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’
And I will be gracious to whom I will be
gracious, and will show mercy on whom I
will show mercy.
Exodus 33:19
ESV
But,” he said, “you cannot see my face,
for man shall not see me and live.” And
the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place
by me where you shall stand on the rock,
Exodus 33:20–21
ESV
and while my glory passes by I will put
you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover
you with my hand until I have passed by.
Then I will take away my hand, and you
shall see my back, but my face shall not
be seen.”
Exodus 33:22–23

he will not let you be tempted beyond
your ability, but with the temptation he
will also provide the way of escape, that
you may be able to endure it

dismayed, for I am your God; I
will strengthen you, I will help
you, I will uphold you with my
righteous right hand.

Trust in the Lord with all your
heart, and do not lean on your
own understanding. In all your
ways acknowledge him, and he
will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5–6

do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made
known to God. And the peace of God, which
surpasses all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7

He is the radiance of the glory of God
and the exact imprint of his nature, and
he upholds the universe by the word of
his power. After making purification for
sins, he sat down at the right hand of the
Majesty on high,
Hebrews 1:3

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of
darkness,” has shone in our hearts to
give the light of the knowledge of the
glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

If you are insulted for the name of
Christ, you are blessed, because
the Spirit of glory and of God
rests upon you.
1 Peter 4:14

For a man ought not to cover his
head, since he is the image and
glory of God, but woman is the
glory of man.

you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover
