  1. Ezekiel 14:3 Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts, and set the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces.

  2. God was saying that the human heart takes good things like a successful career, love, material possessions, even family, and turns them into ultimate things. Our hearts deify them as the center of our lives, because, we think, they can give us significance and security, safety and fulfillment, if we attain them. Keller, Timothy Counterfeit Gods

  3. Romans 1:2021 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks...
