Location Classroom with student access to internet Familiarise yourself Recommended time 45 minutes Provide Devices or paper as required. By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. Define what success means to them. 2. Identify what motivates them. 3. Explore career areas that match their motivators and definitions of success. Objectives Add as an Interaction Click Advanced view>Sort by school leaving year>[filter for specific students]>+interaction. Track on Charts Usage charts>Customise and filter> Most popular career areas. Students discuss what makes them successful. Students complete an auction of success. Students reflect on what motivates them and use the Careers library to search for careers. Main student tasks Advanced view>Sort by>Library profiles in favourites. What Does Success Mean For You?
Dictionary definition (5 mins) Turn to the person next to you and discuss the following questions: What would be your dictionary definition of success ? Can you think of an example of when you have been successful?
What does success look like? (5 mins) Success can mean different things to different people. Turn to the person next to you and discuss the following questions: What makes you successful? Is it money, doing a great job, or something else? Why do people s answers to this question vary?
Auction of success! (10 mins) You have 10,000 to bid against your classmates for the following experiences. You can choose to bid all the money on one item, or share the money over multiple items. You have two minutes to write down your bids. Afterwards, you cannot change your bid. Are you ready?

Getting motivated (10 mins) There are lots of different factors that motivate people in their careers. Can you think of some? Salary Being challenged Helping others High work pressure Being respected Job satisfaction Getting on well with colleagues Being a leader Work/life balance

Unifrog Careers library Using the Unifrog Careers library, find three careers that you like and list their job titles. For each career, favourite it and make a note of: The skills you d need to do this job The qualifications or route into this job What you think would motivate you in this job? Remember to search the Careers library when you want to learn about other jobs in future!
