This initiative aims to increase health and wellbeing, build resilience, enhance team synergy, and improve self and team awareness in General Practice teams. It offers funding for team development, promotes reflection on personal and professional needs, and encourages setting shared goals. The funding can be used for activities like team building, reflection, and developing a shared vision. Additional collaborative approaches at the PCN level are also suggested to support team activities. Evaluation of the impact will be done through post-activity discussions.

  1. Health and Wellbeing Support for General Practice Teams

  2. What is the overall aim and objectives? Aim To increase Health and Wellbeing, build resilience, drive team synergy, and improve self and team awareness. Objectives 1. Provide General Practice teams with funding towards protected time for team development / team building. 2. Encourage individual team members to reflect on their own personal and professional development needs and be aware of local resources which can support these. 3. Agree shared values or goals for the next twelve months to improve health and wellbeing.

  3. What can the funding be used for? 1. To improve the overall understanding of Health and Wellbeing and any barriers to improvement. 2. Team building activities that improve resilience. 3. Self and team reflection over the last 2 years in the context of wellbeing. 4. Activities to understand the strengths, weaknesses and development needs of team members that affect their resilience. 5. Develop a shared team vison and future goals. 6. Opportunity for teams to articulate their frustrations but also be encouraged to find creative ideas and solutions to day-to-day challenges. 7. Service backfill to allow the whole team to attend, Venue Hire (if required), and activity facilitation costs.

  5. Plenty of Collaborative Neighbours (PCN) Given the operating challenges faced by many within general practice, the suggestion is a collaborative approach at PCN level. This would enable joined up approaches to backfill/cover for teams who are undertaking activities off-site, bring colleagues together to share experiences and best practice, and fuel the evolution of supportive networks for short and long term support needs. Key stakeholders can agree a bespoke programme at PCN level or for each practice dependent on current team structure, perceived resilience and cohesion, and appetite for stretch and challenge.

  6. How will I evaluate the impact of the activity undertaken? Discussions post activity will enable immediate feedback, evaluation of impact, and future planning to take place. A short survey will be devised for you and your colleagues to complete. The survey detail will contribute towards your CQC reporting and also provide a health and wellbeing benchmark.

  7. Agree within your PCNs/Individual Teams which activity you wish to pursue Funding will be partial or in full. This is dependent on the total number of people involved (single practice, multiple practices, or PCN) and chosen activity cost.
