UNIFORM 100% Irish schools New Teachers New Language New School Rules New School Friends Are all boys, all girls, mixed Classes are 45minutes to 1 hour long School is normally from 9.00 am To 4.00 pm YOUR SCHOOL
Enrolment Letter for each student A school report a based on exam results at Christmas and the end of the school year ASSESSMENT OF SCHOOL YEAR Letter of completion at end of school year All letters & report are made available to deans and natural parents when available. These letters & reports are given to the school in the home country to convalidate the programme abroad.
Host Families are chosen by Student Programmes Ireland Ltd by the local coordinator. Students are not placed in cities Long distance of travel to school Not always many activities around A better emersion experience HOST FAMILIES 1 student per nationality, no more than 2 students Own bedroom with a desk for study All host families are police checked (Garda Vetted)

The lines of communication for schools must come through SPIL. Parents must not contact schools directly. SPIL has a very good working relationship with all of our schools LINES OF COMMUNICATION TO SCHOOLS The schools will only communicate requests for any students through SPIL and the local coordinator. All communications to SPIL must be in writing by email

You must have your European Health Card when in Ireland. This is mandatory for all students European Health Card used to attend the Doctor or hospital during an illness or in the event of an accident or for purchasing prescribed medication ILLNESS & ACCIDENT INSURANCE
Budget 150-200 per month Expect some items to be more expensive POCKET MONEY & BUDGETING It is advisable that parents to open a bank account for students in home country (eg Revolut/Maestro) Students will require a debit/credit card as cash payments may not be available Host Families are not allowed to give you a loan of money so you should never ask
Some communications from SPIL will be through WhatsApp while in Ireland MOBILE PHONES You must have credit on your phone at all times. Use EU Roaming or Irish Sim Card.

Over night travel only permitted at weekends, Mid- Term & Easter Applications must be 10 working days before travel date OVER NIGHT TRAVEL RULES Travel with school must also be approved Travel is not permitted during school days unless with school Return visits to home country will only be allowed in case of emergency Travel will not be allowed if we do not receive the signed TPF from your parents
Mid term in February or Easter a good time to visit VISIT FROM NATURAL PARENTS Not allowed during first term If travelling in Ireland with Natural Parents a TPF must also be completed as you are not on the programme while you are travelling independently

Each Student & Natural Parents will receive information about their Host Family in Mid July. NEXT STEPS We ask that all students contact their host family by WhatsApp at the beginning of August Most important if you have a problem you must tell us so we can deal with it
