  4. CP 17 Reimbursing Depositors Core Principles 17: The deposit insurance system should give depositors prompt access to their insured funds. A key function of a deposit insurance system is to give depositors prompt access to their insured deposits when a bank is closed. A deposit insurer s effectiveness in providing prompt reimbursements to depositors is critical for maintaining confidence in the banking system and financial stability.
