Belgium offers a high-quality public healthcare system with a free choice of doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies. Patients receive partial reimbursement of healthcare expenses based on national tariffs. There are different reimbursement systems in place for medical services, medicines, and hospitalizations. Patients can receive reimbursements by submitting medical attestations or e-attests, depending on the case. Pharmacy reimbursements vary with or without an ID card. Hospital bills deduct the national health insurance contribution directly, with the patient responsible for the remainder. It's essential to understand the specific reimbursement processes to navigate the Belgian healthcare system effectively.
