Our 16 Our 16- -18 Course offers: 18 Course offers: This is an exciting one year course and is designed to stimulate interest and encourage the learners understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children. It is aimed at a range of learners, including young people needing to develop life skills as well as those who are thinking of working in childcare. L1 NCFE CACHE Diploma in Caring for Children Looking for a career in childcare? This course offers you the opportunity to achieve a fully recognised qualification to become a qualified practitioner working with children from birth to 7 years old. As part of the course, you will cover a range of topics related to childcare work including: Dealing with parents/carers Working in partnership with statutory agencies and other professionals Child development Safeguarding Health and safety L2 NCFE CACHE Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner L3 NCFE CACHE Technical Diploma in Childcare and Education The Technical Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. This qualification confers the licence and practice as an Early Years Educator. All our courses require you to have a clean, enhanced DBS check. 5
Our 19+ Course offers: Our 19+ Course offers: This is an exciting one year course and is designed to stimulate interest and encourage the learners understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children. It is aimed at a range of learners, including young people needing to develop life skills as well as those who are thinking of working in childcare. It is also suitable for parents who wish to develop parenting skills, mature learners with special educational needs, or where English is an additional language. English Entry 3 level is a minimum requirement. L1 NCFE CACHE Diploma in Caring for Children Looking for a career in childcare? This course offers you the opportunity to achieve a fully recognised qualification to become a qualified practitioner working with children from birth to 7 years old. As part of the course, you will cover a range of topics related to childcare work including: Dealing with parents/carers Working in partnership with statutory agencies and other professionals Child development Safeguarding Health and safety L2 NCFE CACHE Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner This course prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. The course consists of a number of units across 3 themes: Health and well-being, Legislation, frameworks and professional practice, Play, development and learning for school readiness Applicants must have Level 2 qualifications in maths and English in order to be eligible for entry to this programme and a mandatory work placement of 350 hours in a suitable early years setting is required for which a clean, enhanced DBS is required, as with all courses. L3 NCFE CACHE Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) All our courses require you to have a clean, enhanced DBS check. 6
Our 19+ Course offers: Teaching Assistant Our 19+ Course offers: Teaching Assistant L1 NCFE CACHE Award in Preparing to Work in Schools NCFE Cache L1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools This popular qualification is designed to prepare learners for further learning and training whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting and is aimed at adult learners who are thinking of working in a school setting as a Teaching Assistant who may not have formal English and maths qualifications. The course runs for 15 weeks for 2 hours per week, a practical placement is not essential on this course as it is a knowledge- based course only. The course consists of the following 3 units: Understand schools as organisations, Understand how to keep children safe and well and Understand how to communicate with children, young people and adults L2 NCFE CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools This qualification has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school environments in roles such as Teaching Assistants. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people s development, supporting children and young people s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It s aimed at learners working, or intending to work, in roles that support pupils learning in primary, secondary or special schools, a clean enhanced DBS would be required. Learners would need a minimum of L1 English in order to enrol on this course. L3 NCFE CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools This qualification provides learners with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in primary, secondary or special school environments in roles such as a Teaching Assistant, and includes modules on Supporting maths and English, Safeguarding, Supporting positive behaviour in children and Supporting children and young people s speech, language and communication. There is a mandatory placement requirement of 200 hours in a suitable school setting for which a clean enhanced DBS would be required. Learners would need a GCSE English grade C or Level 4 and GCSE Maths grade D or Level 3 in order to enrol on this course. All our courses require you to have a clean, enhanced DBS check. 7
Our 19+ Course offers: Our 19+ Course offers: Level 4 and 5, Foundation Degree in Early Level 4 and 5, Foundation Degree in Early Childhood studies Childhood studies What will it cover: The Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies is a full-time course and is delivered at New City College in conjunction with London Metropolitan University, one full day and an evening a week. You will cover a range of topics such as play, health and well-being, researching childhood and safeguarding children. As part of your course, you could be in paid employment in an early years setting or on placement. You will carry out exciting activities - we use a range of assessment methods that allows creativity, this includes, making and presenting play artefacts, patchwork designs and podcasts that are submitted as part of your coursework. Prior experience - use your child care experiences to support your learning in the classroom and in your work setting. This is a 2 years undergraduate course delivered in partnership with London Metropolitan University Progression: Progression on to senior leaderships and management roles in different early years settings. Progressed on to the final years of a BA (hons) degree and complete Yearly Years Teachers Status. Became nominated SENCO, Safeguarding, and Well-being officers for your organisation. Opened up their own child minding and day care business. Further training on becoming a primary Teacher. 8
Progression Progression What does your course lead to: What does your course lead to: This is a portfolio based qualification. If you successfully pass the course you will be able to progress to L2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner. L1 NCFE CACHE Diploma in Caring for Children This qualification allows progression on to the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications and other relevant Level 3 qualifications relating to early years and child care. This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce. Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as: nursery practitioner classroom assistant pre-school practitioner. L2 NCFE CACHE Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner Which type of job roles can you apply for on completion? Upon achievement of this qualification learners will gain their licence to practise and it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or progress to higher education. Learners can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as: practitioner in day nurseries practitioner in nursery schools practitioner in reception classes in primary school or a pre-school worker.
