Satellite Communications Support for Enhanced Emergency Communications
Providing support for enhanced emergency communications through mobile and fly-away satellite systems. These systems offer cellular-based WiFi, satellite-based WiFi, and voice over IP phone numbers for use during communication disruptions. Satellite airtime is provided at no cost to TxDOT through the Texas State Satellite Initiative. For questions and support, contact the State Radio Coordinators in Austin, Texas.

Radio and Technology Support Satellite Communications Two different systems available: Mobile, Fly-Away package. Field deployable. Can be moved by SUV or Pickup Roof Mounted on Houston Command & Communications Trailer Systems able to provide: Cellular Based WiFi & Internet Hotspot (if cell network available) Satellite Based WiFi & Internet Hotspot Voice over IP Phone Numbers with 3 handsets per system Able to use when normal land line, internet, cellular service is out due to weather or overloaded normal communication circuits. Satellite air time provided at no cost to TxDOT through Texas State Satellite Initiative managed by Texas DPS and Texas Military Departments. 2
