RSCCD Alternate Attendance Collection Discussion
Weekly Census Contact Hours per Week x Census Enrollment x TLM 525 *Needs to be validated that this meets the scheduled time
Daily Census Number of Scheduled Days x Number of Contact Hrsper Scheduled Day x Census Enrollment 525 *Needs to be validated that this meets the scheduled time
Positive Attendance Total Number of Actual Hours of Attendance for the Term 525
Independent Study (IW & ID) Total Number of Units Enrolled at Census x TLM 525
Independent Study w/ Lab (ILW) Not coded to work on ID sections with a lab Current setup DINT/DINT2 line displays unit value CHEM-209 this would be 4.0 for contact hour LAB line is the boosted difference for the lab being offered on site. In this case the difference would be 2.4 for a grand total of 6.4
ILW Problems Hard to calculate for some staff Staff are boosting both the DINT line and the LAB lines Many calculations are off Hard to train staff to calculate this properly Must be verified and checked for accuracy
State Chancellor Discussion Stuart spoke with Elias Regalado regarding IW/ID sections with Labs Per Elias we should refer to these as Alternative Accounting methods as IW and ID have been phased out on these particular sections. Also per Elias we have been collecting wrong For what we know as ILW and what we did not have as ILD sections, we should be claiming exactly what we do as if the section was offered full semester on campus.
What this means for RSCCD We need to immediately revise the ILW calculation, potential solution to follow. We can collect on ILD sections and the nice thing is just like ID/IW the formula is the same for ILW/ILD Alternate Accounting We need to define new codes for ILW and IDW potentially, so that they match the codes at the state, I suggest AAW and AAD but this is up for discussion.
New Formula Solution Elias stated that we can collect the same amount of contact hours not units on those students in ILW/ILD sections as is they were offered onsite full semester. He also recommended that we take the baseline approach in calculations however I will leave that up to the District to decide. He said while they are both legal, boosted may raise questions by auditors. Both boosted and baseline examples will be shown for you to decide
Baseline Formula To provide baseline contact hours I recommend much like PAC,ID, and IW we remove the calculation from schedulers. We can simply hit the course and use the catalog hours For baseline we can take the catalog hours and / 16 For example BIOL-239 would be 48 (48/16 = 3.0 contact hours) for both LEC and LAB for a grand total 6.0 This would give us unboostedhours for each instructional method and allow us to collect on ILW/ILD very easily
Boosted Formula Boosted is a bit trickier but ITS could provide the calculation Boosted is again catalog hours on COFF but with extra steps For example BIOL-239 is 48 LEC and 48 LAB We take 48/16 to get 3 3 * 18 gives us 54 54/16 gives us 3.375, which we round up to 3.4 for each Instr. Method for a grand total of 6.8 In this example you would gain 6.8 contact hours in total
If you agree with my recommendation We may need to define new Funding Acctg Methods such as AAW and AAD EMT and RG reports will need to be modified Schedulers will need to be retrained Curriculum will need to make sure catalog hours are accurate However schedulers would not be responsible for contact hour accuracy for these sections
