Research Compliance Services

Central administrative unit supporting research integrity
Support for human subjects research protections and the Institutional
Review Board
Support for UO policies on Financial Conflict of Interest in Research
(FCOIR), and Conflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment, and
Outside Activities
Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) resources, and support for
RCR training requirements on sponsored projects – esp. NIH and NSF
Support for responding to and investigating allegations of research
misconduct

Updates Fall 2020 – FCOI, COI-COC

No change to FCOIR requirements/process – anyone responsible for the design,
conduct or reporting of
sponsored research
must complete the SFI declaration
and complete annual FCOIR training – both through EPCS
Applies to subrecipients who do not have their own FCOIR policy
RCS is supporting UO’s Conflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment, Outside
Activities policy, which applies to
all UO employees
 – currently, disclosures are
accepted at
coc@uoregon.edu
Training on this policy will be recorded and made available through MyTrack this fall
If a proposed outside activity is with a foreign institution or abroad, RCS can help connect
person with other relevant UO offices
Information about foreign support should be shared with SPS to ensure active funding and
proposals are current
Electronic COI module for both FCOIR and COI-COC disclosures should be in place
this time next year

Updates Fall 2020 – Responsible Conduct of
Research

We have resumed sending emails to PIs regarding the RCR training
requirement
Emails intended to remind PIs of the training requirement, and inform
them we can provide support
Help answer questions about NIH and NSF training requirements
Provide a template tracking sheet
Guide researchers (faculty, students, post-docs) to RCR resources: RCR CITI
training; course offered on campus; RCS’s basic RCR course
We are not requesting the documentation of the training, but rather
only PI status update
PIs should maintain records of the RCR training for each award

remotely

Planning and Stages
