Dear Uncle Sam, I do not have any problem with you and I am sure you dont have it either, respect each other is what will make us live together (as much as we want we can t change it) happily. History will remember us as a complicated fairy tale with Once upon a time there were two amazing countries living in brotherhood but denying one from the other...at the end everything went well and they learned to respect each other so they lived happily ever after (Hope, LOL). Dear Uncle Sam, The United States is a beautiful, rich and multicultural country thats causes curiosity to many people from abroad, which attracts people to search for the American Dream. A dream that many times turns out to be their worst nightmare or even their death. Most of the time they do this looking for a better way of living, because their country is not providing them with their needs. I won t say that all of those who come for the American Dream don't reach their goal. A good amount of people learn this new culture, adapt, work hard and live a much better life than the one they left behind. Other people come to look for opportunities in achieving their professional studies to have a better income. Some come in search of better paid jobs. I personally can say that much of my education has been influenced by Native American Teachers in my hometown Cananea, Sonora. I grew up with many american friends and companions, habitat in which I was immersed into the english language. I am so grateful for that because english has opened up so many doors and opportunities in my life. And also because the United States is a country where you can travel and find many interesting places to visit, with so much diversity of climates, sports, places, and culture. Uncle Sam you have a great country, Hopefully your people will keep it that way or make it even much better for the coming generations. Yours truly, Lupita
Dear Uncle Sam, Dear Uncle Sam: First, thank you for the many opportunities you have given me to interact and learn from each other so far, what could be best to know each one but to presence our way of living than experiencing what each other goes through? These are just a few of the ideas I have developed so far through the years being the neighbors we are. Don t take this the wrong way, but I have noticed you call yourself Americans but have not realized yet America is the continent and your countries name is United States, everyone of us living in this continent is American. Being a Mexican citizen is an honor, as much as being from the United States. We, in Mexico are the country of the Mariachi, tacos, Chile and tequila (from my State it would be the Bacanora, don't really like it like I don't like Tequila either but hey, it's part of our staples); We have one of the top Universities in the world, holiday destinations famous for their landmarks, beaches, fauna and flora; We have everything the land as to provide and we work it and are grateful to it. We have world known writers, artists, musicians, poets and designers. We have national heroes, symbols, language and such a witty sense of humor which only can be handled here in Mexico. We don't always agree, or feel safe, but so do you.
I believe that we all in America have strong family values, work ethic and definitely a strong sense of belonging which we show with the way we behave, what we wear, how we wear it, our colors, our music, our words and how we treat each other. We all have a new generation who is watching us, eager to learn and discover and luckily, we have the people just willing and eager to do so. Being who one is, is an honor, is our pride, regardless of where you come from and where you are planning to go or end in life. Our history, past and future is in all of us. Our main goal is to live, work, smile, cry, sing and feel. I truly believe we can live and feel together as Americans. Yours truly and always open for debate, Nadia Layde Valiente Monta o nvaliente@hotmail.com
