North Korea Northern part borders China, northeast Russia, and south Korea Population: 26 million Divided into North and South along the 38th parallel after WWII in 1945 with US and Soviet Union assuming control respectively. Kim Il-sung's governing policies and directions: a. Juche ideology: To be a self-reliant nation through achieving political, economic, and military independence. b. Songun ideology: National defense and military as the top priority of development. Kim Jong-il emphasized military and development of nuclear weapons; years of natural disasters; large group of defectors from the North. Kim Jong-un is fully committed to developing nuclear weapons.
Churches in North Korea A country that persecutes Christians the most severely Christianity promoted the application of the Korean language After 1945, Kim II Sung closed down all the churches Executed all the non-foreign Catholic priests Christians publicly executed for distributing Bibles; their family Imprisoned. 50,000 to 70,000 Christians are still in prison and there are countless martyrs. Believers more than doubled; 400,000 joined family churches.
Pray for the N. Korean Society Dear Heavenly Father, please help us understand how Korea perceives the world and responds to the current situation under historical influences. We pray in unity for President Kim Jong- un. May You grant him the real courage, not to rely on nuclear weapons But to open the economic development of the country and choose the path of peaceful talks for decisions and policies that benefit the people. Dear Lord, we bless the Korean people together. May their people live in peace, growth, and development, have religious liberty, and walk the path of grace.
Pray for the Deflectors from North Korea Dear Heavenly Father, please comfort with Your mercy the deflectors from North Korea who are now in China and Korea. Protect them from harm, violence, and deprivation. Lord, please provide them food, residence, and medical care. Be able to have education, job opportunities, and contact with Christians. Dear Lord, they longed to reunite with their families in North Korea. May the Lord use the churches, give them wisdom and love to have the willingness to take care of the deflectors, warmly accompany and support them. May our prayer and support encourage the deflectors, knowing that they are not being forgotten, And to know more about Heavenly Father who loves them.
Pray for Churches in North Korea Dear Heavenly Father, we pray together for the 400,000 Christians who follow You and the 50,000 70,000 body of Christ who are in prison. May the Lord strengthen them, help them experience Your presence, and protect them to become the tinder to revive Korea! May You protect them when they face persecution, provide them when they are in adverse situations. We pray that the Lord s Spirit fills the leaders and pastors of their churches, give them insight, wisdom, and courage, shepherding the flock to become Your testimony. In the name of Jesus Christ, we prayed. Amen!
