OCWS Dine with Wine Program
Rich Skoczylas, Chair

During the worst of COVID, restaurants struggled and lost income due to
lack of patrons
Restaurants looked at ways to recover financial losses
Several started charging guests to “uncork” their personal bottle of
wine brought to a restaurant – “Corkage” fees
“Corkage” fees can be $25 per bottle, possibly more
Our members bring their own bottle of wine to a featured Dine with Wine
restaurant without paying a “Corkage” fee
Dine with Wine Returned
Wed. January 19 - Moulin Bouillon (French - Newport Beach)
Wed. March 23 – Zov’s Bistro (Eastern Mediterranean - Tustin)
These are Popular Events that Sell Out Quickly

Mini-Tastings

We held four Mini-Tastings in 2021-2022. Overall, we had 24
members open their homes to host these events.
The Mini-Tastings feature a theme and are organized as a potluck.
The OCWS provides the wine and supplies, and the guests bring a
dish and vote on Chef-of-the Evening (who is then awarded a bottle
of wine and receives recognition in
The Wine Press
).

Events in 2021-2022:

Sept. 2021 - Gold Medal Mini: 14 sites, 170 members & guests

May 2022 - Rhone Wines (Old world vs. Cal.) - 4 sites, 63 members
