Ohio EMS Scope of Practice Updates and Clarifications
Ohio's EMS scope of practice is regulated by the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services, outlining authorized actions for EMS providers at different certification levels. The scope of practice matrix acts as a quick reference guide, while EMS medical directors ensure adherence to regulatory qualifications and approved protocols within the established scope.

THE NEED Why do we have Power Center procedures? To learn more about yourself To learn to manage responses to school challenges Be successful academically Be successful socially To learn to be self-determined
WHAT IS THE POWER CENTER? Starts as a place Then becomes part of you!
THE POWER TO CHOOSE It s all about choice Choosing whether and how to respond to every situation Choosing to be in control of your decisions Choosing to take the break
WHEN SHOULD I TAKE A PC BREAK? When you find you are overwhelmed with: Feelings of stress Feelings of frustration Feelings of anger Feelings of sadness Difficulty thinking clearly Tell the adult you need a break Walk calmly to the Power Center location

WHATAREYOUR CHOICES & CONSEQUENCES To plan for your return to the situation: Identify at least one positive choice (i.e. get to work, appropriately ask for help, ignore inappropriate behavior, get ready to listen, etc.) What are the consequences for the positive choice? (you are in control of yourself -- earn privileges -- teacher praise learn -- work completion -- positive relationships, etc.) Identify at least one negative choice (i.e. blurt out in class, retaliate against peer, refuse to work, tune out the teacher, antagonize peer, etc.) What are the consequences for the negative choice? (adults take control -- lose privileges -- teacher redirection -- lack of understanding -- no learning -- work incomplete -- lose friendships, etc.)
MAKEYOURDECISION Weigh the choices and consequences Make a positive decision for yourself Exercise your power of choice! Return to class in control of yourself Reap the rewards! Confidence Trust FRIENDSHIPS Peace Learning
