We encourage a phone call with our staff prior to registration if this is the case. My child has a disability. Are you able to accommodate? This would depend on the disability. We do have some current students in our majors who have disabilities but as this is a summer program and not an academic year program, we would prefer to discuss with the parents prior to confirming a student s participation. Are vaccinations required? Yes, just as they are in NJ public schools. What do I do if my child is sick, or changes their mind after they have started the session? Please give us a call to discuss options, if that happens. My child takes medication on a regular basis. Will there be a nurse to administer the medication? Please give us a call before registration to discuss if you have further questions concerning this topic. How is the security on campus? Is the campus safe? NJIT University Police Officers patrol the campus and surrounding area on foot, bicycles, and in state-of-the-art patrol vehicles. Officers create a safe environment for the university and surrounding community as well as their invited guests. The University police maintain a close working relationship with the Newark Police Department, Rutgers, Essex County College, and NJ Transit Police Departments as well as other agencies in the area. Public Safety Officers are highly visible and posted in University parking lots as well as in and around campus buildings. For more information about NJIT Public Safety and Campus Security, please visit: https://www5.njit.edu/publicsafety/department-public-safety/ Will my child be supervised at all times? Yes. Between the instructors and student assistants, participants are supervised the entire time while the program is in session. My child will need to participate in their home sports activities. Can I pick up my child after the program each day and bring them back at night? We love student athletes! While this is possible, it is not recommended, especially on the day of the field trip or the day before final presentations are due. If something can be worked out with the coach for an abbreviated schedule during that week, it will provide a better experience for your child.
