Others can build off you work months or years later People who did not attend the presentation can understand what happened How to build a document that speaks for itself? Create more of a science fair poster instead of just a slide Include footnotes to answer questions like: Where is this data from? What assumptions were made? Include a background slide

  17. Build a document that speaks for itself Good Example

  18. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 5: Quantify everything

  19. Quantify Everything How to Quantify Everything Don t Do We ve seen this issue 172 times (86%) in the last 200 samples taken in from 4/5/22 4/20/22 This issue has come up a lot recently To improve performance, the team tried 15 experiments by changing variables related to data type and process set up, but had no success We exhausted all options for improvement, but nothing worked The project can be considered a success because we maximized performance in the 3 target areas and finished up under budget The project was successful 19

  20. Quantify Everything Final Note Quantifying everything will take more work, but will help your audience arrive at your conclusion faster A lot of words are fine if they add value Your message will come across more credible because you clearly put things into perspective 20
