  1. Inversion Of Subject and Verb .

  2. We use the inversion to make the sentence more emphatic or dramatic. 1-Time Adverbials:- never ,rarely, seldom .hardly , scarcely ,when ,before ,no sooner than. Rarely have I seen such a beautiful jewel. Adverb + Aux. verb +S +Verb . 2-Time Expressions:- only when .only then , only now . He only then understood the situation . Only then did he understand the situation. Note :- If there is no helping verb , use did ,do or does + base verb .

  3. 3-Negative Expressions :- under no circumstances ,in no circumstances , in no way , on no account . You must under no circumstances open the door . Under no circumstances must you open the door . 4-Expressions started with not :- Not only ..but also, Not until , neither / nor. He is not only handsome but rich , too. Not only is he handsome but rich , too .

  4. 5-Little with negative meaning . She little knows about the problem . Little does she know about the problem . 6-So + Adj /Adv that . He writes so well that he is about to become a poet . So well does he write that he is about to become a poet .

  5. Invert the following sentences . 1-I have never encountered such rudeness . 2-Amanda is not only a gifted musician but she is also good natured and responsible . 3-You can under no circumstances inform the staff about the imminent change . 4-Mark little suspects that his daughter has been failing all her subjects at school . 5-My father no sooner sit down to dinner than was a knock at the door . 6-We have seldom invited friends to dinner .

  6. 1-Never have I encountered 2-Not only is Amanda a gifted musician 3-Under no circumstances can you inform . 4-Little does Mark suspect 5-No sooner had my father sat down to dinner ..( With no sooner we use had + pp verb .) 6-Seldom have we invited friends for dinner .
