  2. We are essentially all in virtual working mode LBNL, FNAL, and BNL are in a warm shutdown mode ASC is currently also shut-down Safety first Safety first o Please follow your laboratory and city/county directives, and strive to stay healthy o This includes ergonomics we will likely be working from home for some time, so strive to identify/develop a good home work ergo-environment Since experiments are largely on hold, lets focus on o Data analysis, modeling, design o Writing papers! This is an opportunity to be reflective, thoughtful; review literature Communicate: use zoom / phone to reach out to MDP colleagues to brainstorm, to discuss data and models, etc MDP updates April 1 2020 2/24/20 2

  3. Structure for meetings moving forward in 2020 Teams (a.k.a Working Groups , a.k.a. Work Packages , ) are asked to meet on a regular basis o Area III: Technology IIIa: Comparative analysis of magnet design concepts Paolo (coordinator), Ramesh, Vadim, Sasha, Lance, Ambrosio IIIb: Advanced modeling arena Lucas (coordinator), Diego, Lance, Vittorio, Dan IIIc: Magnet Materials Steve K. (coordinator), Tengming, Ramesh IIId: Novel Diagnostics Maxim (coordinator), Reed, Stoyan, Maria, Piyush, Marcos IIIe: Training Rate Enhancements Stoyan (coordinator), Maxim, Emanuela o Area IV: Conductor Procurement and R&D Lead Lance Cooley; team is composed of Lance s advisory committee Teams: o Area I: Nb3Sn magnets arena Leads: Sasha and Diego o Area II: HTS magnets IIa: Bi2212 magnet arena Tengming (coordinator), Ulf, Dan, Laura, Emanuela IIb: REBCO magnet arena Xiaorong (coordinator), Ernesto, Vadim, Ramesh, Vito MDP updates April 1 2020 2/24/20 3

  4. Purpose and goals of team meetings Focus on technical progress o Building on the recent planning process, what are the near-term priorities? o Who on the team can contribute, and how? Who else from MDP should be brought in? o What resources are needed, and when? o Force yourselves to meet on a regular basis (at least every two weeks, even if short) o Keep track of your meetings: Have action items shared by the team Be prepared to update the MDP at a General Meeting on a regular basis o We will target every ~2 months at a minimum Today: Bi2212 magnets Today: Bi2212 magnets MDP updates April 1 2020 2/24/20 4
