The characters were on their luxurious train to Athens when we left them, as part of their journey to Egypt. I think I would quite like to go on a sleeper train but only a fancy one like The Continental Express. Let s see what happens next

Comprehension questions for Chapter 12 How much have you understood? Remember to refer back to the text to find the answers to these questions. Summarise the description of the journey so far which Lil gave at the start of the chapter. 2. What does Tulip make with the sketchbook? 3. Why does Lil think the glass moved to A? 4. Here are the answers I would give the questions set. I have written my answer in blue and my explanation of how I know think this is in green. 1. Summarise the description of the journey so far which Lil gave at the start of the chapter. The characters travelled by train from London to Dover. Then at Dover they went by a boat, overnight, to France. In France, they got on another train, which would take three days, to Athens. Page 1. 2. What does Tulip make with the sketchbook? Tulip used ripped out pages of the sketchbook to create a Ouija board, which can be used to communicate with spirits. Page 3. 3. Why does Lil think the glass moved to A? Lil thinks the glass moved to A because the spirit they were talking to was Alex, although she feels that Tulip has moved the glass there herself. Page 7. 4. How did you feel when the Ouija board began to move? This is your opinion I think Ouija boards are a bit creepy but it was definitely interesting when the glass started moving by itself and spelt out a message. Very mysterious! 5. What message does the glass spell out? The glass spells out the message NOT IN THE AFTERLIFE . Lil and the others are not sure if this means that someone isn t actually dead, or they are stuck, unable to get to the afterlife. Pages 10-12.
