LGBTQ Collection Assessment at HathiTrust
HathiTrust aims to make intentional collection decisions and address historic inequities regarding LGBTQ representation. The evaluation involves preserving queer and trans history, serving LGBTQ patrons better, and exploring research questions. They review literature, investigate collection models, and assess utility. Despite challenges in benchmarking and metadata quality, a mixed-methods approach is adopted including list checking, full text analysis, and creating a collection profile.
