Research Need Let s apply resilience to healthcare utilization! In consideration of resilience: draw a connection between resilience and healthcare access in aging LGBTQ+ adults by exploring how resilience among aging LGBTQ+ adults impacts healthcare access. Proposed research project
Proposed Nursing Research Goals & Central Hypothesis The long-term goal: to improve healthcare access for aging LGBTQ+ adults by enhancing healthcare utilization. The overall objective: to explore aging LGBTQ+ perspectives about healthcare access barriers & facilitators and associate findings with recommendations for healthcare service inclusivity and future research. The central hypothesis is health status in aging LGBTQ+ adults can be improved by understanding the role of resilience as a proxy to healthcare access.
Specific AIMS Identify how resilience is associated with the structural, cultural, & personal barriers in healthcare access for aging LGBTQ+ adults. Examine the role of resilience through LGBTQ+ aging adult perspectives Assess health care provider s perspective on the role of resilience for aging LGBTQ+ adult s perceptions regarding barriers to healthcare access and ideas to promote inclusivity.
Outcome The expected outcome is to provide health professionals and aging LGBTQ+ adults pertinent information to enhance inclusivity through healthcare access barrier reduction & healthcare utilization improvement.
