Nursing Staffing Hours Per Veteran/Day Nurse Aides RNs&LPNs Total Nursing Hours National Average 2.12 1.34 3.46 Kentucky Average 2.10 1.37 3.47 A KDVA Average 2.36 2.0 4.36 Note: These hours included all staff, 18A employees, Personal Services Contracts and Agency Staffing Hours. We are proud to maintain these staffing levels for those veterans we serve 7
Previous Efforts Personal Services Contract RNs, LPNs, SRNAs (non 18A, contract employees). More control over these team members than staffing agency contracts)***Allowed us to bring in staff that we otherwise wouldn t have. Locality Premium Non permanent add-on to hourly rate to temporarily pay a higher wage. Excellent tool that has had a positive impact in a targeted fashion. Agency Contract Staff Not a dependable source of staffing, very expensive. Choice of last resort. 8
Current Efforts We are collaborating with the Office of State Budget Director to implement the Personnel Cabinet s recommended approaches to raise the salaries of our Centers staff. We will continue to use the proven methods that have helped sustain the care and services to the veterans we currently serve. 9
