INTRODUCTION
Birthright is the privilege
an individual has as a result of his
position in the family.
Every boy and girl who is born into any family has a birthright to
everything in that family because he is born into that family.
In the family of God, too, all friends of Jesus are heirs and joint
heirs with Christ.
They have the right to come to God in prayer and receive
answers.
As a friend of Jesus, you must not sell your birthright for any
reason.

Isaac was Abraham’s son of promise. He got
married to Rebekah at the age of forty years and
was childless for twenty years.
He did not make the mistake of looking for an
alternative to God’s promise like Abraham, his
father when he was childless (
Genesis 16:1-4
).
He waited for God; he later gave birth to Esau
and Jacob. You must wait for God patiently, and
His promises will come to pass in your life.
If you are not yet a friend of Jesus, give your life
to Him, and His unfailing promises will be fulfilled
in your life in Jesus’ name.

After his wife Sarah's death and his son Isaac's marriage,
Abraham saw the need for a companion.
He after that married Keturah, who gave birth to six children
As the years passed, Abraham knew that he needed to put his
house in order so that after he had gone, the sons of the new
woman would not start fighting over his possession with Isaac,
the sole heir of the promise.

So, he gave the sons of the woman gifts and sent them away, but
Isaac, who was the heir of promise, he gave all his possessions.
God expects His children to be ready to take possession and
mantle of leadership when our elders grow old and pass on to
glory.
So, we must abide by the principle of the word of God, which we
have learnt from the Bible.

All boys and girls are created by God, and
as creatures of God, there are everyday
blessings that God gives to all His
creatures.
However, there are covenant blessings
that only friends of Jesus can enjoy.
If you want to enjoy covenant blessings,
you must give your life to Christ and
become a friend of Jesus. As you do this,
great will be your blessings.
Abraham lived for 175 years, and God
prospered him spiritually and physically.

Isaac and Rebekah had no child after
20 years of marriage. Isaac prayed to
the Lord for his wife, and God answered
him.
The promise of God is sure when He
promises you anything; if it doesn't
come when you expect it, be patient; it
must surely come.
Isaac’s wife became pregnant and gave
birth to a set of twins.

Whenever we face any challenge in life, we must look up to God
in prayer and believe in Him, and He will attend to all our
requests and answer our prayers.
Rebekah had some problems during the pregnancy of the twins,
and she sought the face of God. God gave her present and
future revelations.
Sometimes, we may have some discomforts, though in the will of
God. As we look up to Him, He will see us through in Jesus’
name.

Eventually, Rebekah gave birth to Esau
and Jacob.
Esau was hairy and also a hunter. His
father loved him because he brought
him meat from his hunting, while
Rebekah loved Jacob.
As friends of Jesus, we are to love all
men equally. When we do this, God will
be happy with us.

One day, when Esau returned from
hunting, he was hungry and tired. He
saw Jacob cooking pottage
.
Jacob was a good cook because he
was always with his mother at home.
He learnt how to cook from his mother.
We must learn to assist our parents at
home because by so doing, we will
learn how to do many essential things
well.

Esau begged for food from his brother Jacob.
Let us avoid the habit of begging for food from friends and
neighbours. This is a bad habit. If you continue in that habit, you
can be poisoned or attracted to evil associations.
Esau felt he would die if he did not eat the food, but that is not
true. Even if he did not eat that whole day, he would not die.
Jacob saw this as an opportunity to get what he had been
struggling for when they were both in the womb.

So, Jacob requested for his birthright as the first son. Esau never
counted the cost. He just gave in and lost his birthright.
As friends of Jesus, our birthright is the salvation, sanctification,
and Holy Ghost baptism we got through the death of Jesus Christ
on the cross of Calvary.
We should not allow anything, anyone, or friends to make us
forsake Christ and loose our salvation.
Salvation from sin is the most precious thing you can have here
on earth because you will not get to heaven without it.

Also, be careful what you do when you
are under pressure from friends and
neighbours.
Do not let anyone lure you to sin just
because you are pressed.
Do not yield to temptation. Yielding is
sin, and sin will land you in hell.

As a sinner or backslider who has sold his birthright, you must
give your life to Jesus by:
i.
Realizing you are a sinner
ii.
Confess your sins and ask Jesus to forgive you.
iii.
Make up your mind not to go into those sins anymore.
iv.
Invite Christ into your life to be your Lord and Saviour.
v.
Read your Bible and pray every day for the grace to
overcome every temptation.
vi.
God's grace is sufficient for you.

INTRODUCTION Birthright is the privilege an individual has as a result of his position in the family.
