NEW Texas Graduation Requirement
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is requiring all 2022graduating Seniors
to complete the FAFSA or TAFSA
•
FAFSA
– Free Application for Federal Student Aid
•
US Citizens or Permanent Residents
•
TAFSA
– Texas Application for State Financial Aid
•
It's meant for students who are ineligible for federal aid through FAFSA who
are Texas residents and went to high school for at least three years in the
state.
•
Due date is Saturday,
January 15
th
.
•
Opt-out
form for anyone that chooses to decline applying for financial aid
at this
time
.

Students may submit the Opt-Out form for now and still complete the FAFSA/TASFA
prior to being admitted to college. We recommend ALL students to apply for financial aid

Why Submit the FAFSA Early?
•
Some colleges & universities award their financial aid funds on a
first-come, first-served basis, until the money runs out.
•
Students who file the FAFSA early receive more than twice as
much grant funding, on average, as students who file the FAFSA
later.
•
Apply to the school(s) of your choice and submit the FAFSA early.
Financial aid is not considered until the student is accepted.

Texas Education Agency has mandated all 2022 graduating seniors to complete either FAFSA or TAFSA to meet graduation requirements. Submitting the FAFSA early allows students to access more financial aid opportunities. Additionally, details about the KHS Senior Package, including prom tickets, yearbooks, shirts, and payment plans, are provided. Helpful links for FAFSA and TASFA submission are also included.
